West Third Grade Pupils Entertain Grade Mothers Third Oracle pupils of West School with their teacher, Mrs. Sue Arrowood entertained with a party Thursday afternoon, May 28th at the school, honoring the grade mothers, Mrs. Claude Ham bright, Mrs. W. L. Ramseur, Mrs. Ben Goforth, Jr., Mrs. Brown Ware, and Mrs, E. R. Goter. The pupils haa . planned a pro gram of songs and readings, la ter the mothers joined in playing games on the lawn. Punch and cookies were serv ed. Each of the honopecs was pre sented rhinestone ear rings Methodist Circle Met With Mrs. McKinney Circle No. C of Central Metho dist Church met Monday night with Mrs. J. C. McKinney, with Mrs. McKinney presiding. Mrs. William Ware gave an inspiring devotional. Mrs. Wal ter Harmon gave an interesting program on "Methodist Youth". After the business session, Mrs. B. F. Mrs, Lawrence Logan, program leader, gave an interesting talk on what the Heck Jones offering is used for. Mrs. Oates was assisted in ser ving a salad and sweet course with tea to the seven members present. ;? Pre-Nuptial Courtesy ? Extended Brides-Elect Mrs. D. E. Tate and Miss Bon nie Mcintosh joined hospitalities on Thursday night at a lovely party planned to compliment MJss Barbara Gault, bride-elect of June 21st. The party rooms were prettily appointed with white gladiloi, gardenias, and daises. A color | scheme of green and white was 'carried out throughout the party j appointments. At refreshment j time the hostesses were assisted in serving delightful party plates ; holding lime punch, chicken, fin jger rolls and pine apple tarts ! with a minature wedding bell on each plate. I Bnde's bingo was played with prizes awarded Miss Joan Wright, Mrs. Baxter Payseur and Mrs. Donald Heavner. Mrs. Frank Stroupe of Gastonla won the door prize. Following the games Miss Gault was given a miscellaneous shower. Miss Jean Davis, a bride-elect, shared honors with Miss Gault. The hostesses presented each with a corsage of white iris and wedding bells. Miis Betty Jean Tate Wed To James Martin Bridges Miss Betty Jean Tate and James Martin Bridges, both of \0hom live near Kings Mountain, pledged marriage vows Sunday afternoon at the home of the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Wilson, on route 1. Rev. J. S. Johnson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Bessemer City and Long Creek Presbyterian church read the ceremony vows to the couple. The bride was given in marri age by her brother, Charles Tate, of Shelby. Marie Bridges, sister of the groom was ring bearer. j Mrs. Bridges is a daughter of Mrs. Mattie Tate Bridges of Route 1, Kings Mountain and the late Avery Tate of Shelby. Mr. Bridges is a son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Bridges also of Route 1. There was a reception after the wedding, later the young couple left for a wedding trip. Upon their return they will be at home on Route 1. Mr. Bridges is employed by the Sunrise Dairy in Gastonla. Miss Jean Davis Reveafs Plans For Her Wedding Miss Alda Jean Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jedeth Roan Da vis, this week reveals plans for her marriage to Benjamin Taylor Jackson, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H, Jackson of Jacksonville, Flori da. The wedding will be solemnized on Thursday, June 18th at 8 p. m. in Central Methodist Church, with the Rev. J. H. Winkler, for mer pastor of the bride now of Kannapolis, and Rev, Phillip L. Shore, Jr., pastor of the church performing the rites. Miss Davis will be given in marriage by her father, J. R. Da vis, and Joseph W. Shanks of Jacksonville, Fla. will attend the groom as best man. A program of wedding music will be rendered by Mrs. Aubrey Mauney, organist, and Russell Montfort of Lexington and B. S. Peeler, Jr., vocal soloists. Allran entered Gas ton Memorial Hospital Monday where she is undergoing treat ments and observation. Mrs. Ed Fraley of Gastonia, mother of Mrs. Allran, underwent a very serious operation Monday in Gaston Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Boyce McGill, Misses Wil lie and Mary Boyce McGill, Miss Nell McGill of Charlotte, and Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Hallman and Miss Jeanene Hallman spent the weekend In Roanoke, Va., as guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Jon es. Mrs Jones is the former Nalr McGill.' Mrs. J. N. Gamble Fetes Double Deck Bridge Club Members of the Double Deck Bridge Club and several addition al guests met Tuesday night with Mrs. J. N. Gamble. White gladioli, daises, gardeni as, . petunias were predominant In the floral decorations,. Tables were appointed, and when all guests had assembled, Mrs. Pride Ratterree assisted the hostess in serving a salad course with sandwiches and t-a, passing homemade ice cream and cook ies. Interesting progressions of bridge ensued which left playing prizes with Mrs. J. K. Willis and Mrs. John Rudisell for club mem bers. Visitors prizes went to Mrs. W. K. Crook and Mrs. W. W. Souther, Mrs. M. H. Biser and Mrs. J. H. Arthur won the Bingo prizes. Those playing other than mem bers included Mrs. Crook, Mrs. Souther, Mrs. Biser, Mrs. Arthur, Mrs. I. G. Patterson, and Mrs. L. A. Hoke. < -< Miss Barbara Gault Extended Courtesy Miss Faylene Falls and Miss Ramona Allen entertained at the Falls home Friday night as a special courtesy to Miss Barbara Gault, bride-elect. Bridal games were played with Mrs. William Hemdon and Mrs. Charles McCarter winning the prizes. Bell shaped sandwiches, green and white cakes, nuts and a drink were served, alter which little Judy Ivey brought in an assort* ment of gilts and presented the honoree, who was very striking in a pink nylon dress with white accessories. The hostesses pre sented her a white corsage upon her arrival to complement her outfit.'
