Hemdon, editor Lovely Garden Party Saturday At Dogwood A large and handsomely ap pointed event of Saturday after noon was the garden party given by Mrs. Joe Neisler at her lovely suburban home, "Dogwood", pay ing special courtesy to Mrs. L>add W. Hamriek, Jr., of Durham, a recent bride. Colorful arrangements of mix ed blossoms, and fruit were used both in the home and on the ter race. Guests were greeted on the front terrace by Mrs. W. L. Ram seur and Mrs. Hunter Neisler. Greeting informally were Mrs. C. . E. Neisler, Mrs. C. T. Miller of Richmond, Va? Mrs. J. W. Tim berlnke of Gastonia and Mrs. M. L. Plonk. Just inside the door were Mrs. J. VV. Timberlake, Jr., Mrs. Rush Ifamrick, Jr., of Shelby, and Mrs. Dan Finger. Inviting callers through the hall and introducing them to thje receiving line were Mrs. H. R. Webb and Mrs. G, E. Still. The receiving line was com posed of Mrs. Neisler, the hos tess, the honoree Mrs. L. W. Ham rick, Jr., and her mother-in-law, Mrs. L. VV. Hamrlck, of Shelby. Greeting at the door into the terrace were Mrs. G. F. Lattlmore and Mrs. C. G. Dllling. At the terrace steps on the left were Mrs. M. A. Ware and Mrs. W. M. Gantt inviting callers to the lower lawn were Mrs. Harry Page and Mrs. Robert Miller. Presiding af the refreshment table were Mrs. Sam Davis and Mrs. J. R. Simpson. The long glass table, with the huge arrange ment of mixed flowers and cor responding nosegays held trays of French pastries, assorted cakes and cheese twirls. Mrs. Arnold Kiser and Mrs. G II. Mauney directed to the punch bowl. Assist inr: in serving punch were Mrs. William ITerndon. Mrs Ren Hudson. Miss Jane Thomp son, Miss Lib Dover. Miss Polly Page and Miss Annie Mobely Dill ing. The large glass punch table, the huge cut glass bowl with the . evanescent vapors from the punch, and. the coral vine across one end. with the entwining sprays underneath, made a pie ture long to be remembered. Directing guests on the right lawn were Mrs. Craig Jones, ot Shelby, and Mrs. II. S. Rlackmer. Mrs, Carl Mauney and Mrs. Ho ward -Jackson directed callers to the register. Presiding here were Mrs. George Houser and Mrs: Vernon Crosby. The fruit arrange ment on the glass table holding the register was very outstand ing. Good byes were said by Mrs H. (' Mayes. Bells Have Family Reunion A family reunion was- held Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J._ M. Bell of Archdale. All five of the children and fif teen of the seventeen grand children were present.. Durham Dancing School To Open September 3 The Durham Dancing School of Gastonia will reopen its branch school here for the se cond season. Registration lor all pupils, both former and beginning, will lie held at the Woman's Club Build ing Thursday afternoon, Septem ber 3, from 3 to 5 p. m. Mrs. Nancy Gray Kitchcm, who is an instructor for the school, is a member of the Dance Masters of America and the Cecchetti Council of America. She has just returned from attending conven tions of these organizations held in New York City.
