Bridges, Commis sioner Gurney Grantham, and Bob Osborne, chairman of the In dustrial Diversification commit tee, attended the second develop ment forum of the State Depart ment of Conservation and Deve lopment at Marion Tuesday even ing. The forum, which is the second of a series of meetings held by the State C & D department un der the direction of Ben E. Doug las, featured several prominent industrialists as speakers. Nor man H. Collison, vice-president of Ecusta Paper Corporation of Pis gah Forest, spoke on "What In dustrialists are Seeking''. In dis cussion of the desirability of a plant site, Mr. Collison said in dustrialists seeking plant loca tions consider the following fac ton: 1. Power (heap, if possible, but mainly free Irom Interruption). 2. Central geographic location. 3. Distribution facilities (main line railroad, truck routes). 4. Adequate water supply.) 5. Waste" disposal. 6. Taxes reasonable (but only to be considered relatively com pared *o value received from pay ment of taxes.) 7. Friendly citizens in the town (do they want industry?). 8. None was reported injured. * On August 26, police said Do nald Bumgardner was stopped for a car at Gold street Intersec tion. Another vehicle driven by Joe "Mullinax, of Grovor, hit the stopped car. Officers R. H. Carri gan and P. R. Sanders investigat ed. P. L. Hardy of Martinez, Ga. was traveling South on 161 Sat urday when Sherman R. Clark, Washington, D. Coresident, failed to stop for a stop light and collid ed with the automobile. Clark was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants. Three fires destroyed a two story family dwelling on Waco road, burned 20 bales of cotton on the lower floor of Kings Moun tain. Kines Mountain fire depart ment answered a call Friday at 3:15 p. m. to the Waco road pro perty of W. A. Williams. The two story dwelling, occupied by the Jack Peterson family, Was almost completely demolished, firemen said, when they arrived. They answered a fire alarm to the C. L. (Curly) Elgin home In Burlington Mills section Satur day at 7:15. Interior walls of the home and furnishings were dam aged. Yesterday morning about 6:30 local firemen answered a call to Kings Mountain Bonded ware house on W. King street. The fire which began in the building's lower floor, damaged around twenty bales of cotton. Extent of water ahd fire dam ages had not been determined last yesterday afternoon by ware house officials.
