A missionary, she spoke of the WMU organizations in South A rnetica and was dressed in a typi cal Spanish costume. Mr. Crump lei was guest minister at Temple Baptist services Sunday. Mrs. Crumpler was introduced by Mrs. Robert Grigg, Jr. Mrs. Herbert Dover, WMU president, presided over the business ses sion. ' / . . V- J Mrs. Virginia Hamricl Fetes Aunt With Party Mrs. Virginia Hamrick enter tained a group of friends at her home on Linwood Road Saturday, night at a birthday party honor ing her aunt, Mrs. Esther M. No dine of Anderson, S. C., formerly of Kings Mountain. The house was decorated throughout with lovely fall flow ers. A huge birthday cake formed the centerpiece on the dining room table with candelabra containing white candles on each side. After gifts were opened, a de licious salad course Was served. The refreshments were molded in the shape of flowers and yel low and green was the color theme. Out-of-town guests attending the party were Charles Owens of Anderson, S. C., Mrs Lila Small of Gastonia, and Mrs. Nealy Ad dy of Shelby. Mrs. Ella J. McDanlel under went an operation at Charlotte's Mercy hospital Tuesday.. She is expected to be discharged from the hospital Sunday. MRS. Mrs. Jimmy Simpson Fetes Bridge Club At Glenbrook Mrs. Jimmy Simpson entertain ed members of the Duplicate Bridge club and Invited guests at Glenbrook Monday afternoon. Dr^ed arrangements with color ful fall leaves were used to de corate the home. Three tables were set up in the living room for bridge and following the games Mrs. George Houser and Mrs. John L McGill tied for high score. Woman's Club Pine Arts Department Held Meeting The Fine Arts Department of Kings Mountain Woman's club met Monday night with Mrs. Lu ther Cansler and Mrs. Herman Campbell as hostesses at the Cansler home on Canterbury Road. Twenty-three members attend ed, anil six new members were Welcomed into the Woman's club department division. Mrs. Aubrey Mauney and Mrs. O. W. Myers, program chairmen, arranged for the October meeting a musical and poetry program using poetry and musical selec tions entered by Woman's club winners in state competition. Mrs. Martin Harmon was pian ist and Mrs. Juanita Warren, so loist for the musical program, and Mrs. P. G. Padgett was poet ry reader. - . Mrs. W. G. Grantham, depart ment chairman, presided over the business session. Following the meeting, guests enjoyed a social period and viewed the Cansler school-room and kitchenette of the new home. Church Woman's Group Observing Prayer Week Central Methodist church Wo man's Society of Christian Ser vice will hold a Quiet Day service in observance ' of the week of Prayer and Self:Denial Thursday (today). The three-hour service begins at 5 o'clock p. m. Supper will be served at 6 p. m. Miss Margaret Stem, teacher of Bible in Kings Mountain city schools, is directing the service.
