ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED ? Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Jenkins of Kings Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter, Gertie Louise, to Ottis S. Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stough Wright of Grover. Garden club mem bers held their December meeting Friday afternoon with Mrs. Jack White as hostess. Christmas arrangements had been brought by bach member of Team Sfo. 1 and Team No. 2 and after completion of judging, teams tied for higher number of points. All members Judged the exhibitions. Mrs. David Neiil, program chairman for December, present ed the program entitled, "Christ mas Greenery and Their Leg ends." Mrs. Marriott Phifer. prer sident, conducted the business ses sion. R.rh member brought favorite "Christmas Goodies" and recipies for the candies to be distributed among club members. After the meeting, tht? hostess was assisted in serving refresh ment plates consisting of chic ken salad sandwiches and butter scotch tarts with coffee. Regular Meetinq Held Of Margrace Girl's Club Regular meeting of Margrace Girls club was held Thursday night in the Margrace Woman's club' house. Doris' Sellers, president, pre sided and called the meeting to order; A short program and de votional was presented prior to the business session. Pie <; Ho Tif DKPOT phone 47r Couples Bridge Club Held Meeting Friday Members of the Couples Bridge club met Friday night with Mr. and Mrs. Dan Finger as hosts at their home on Gold street. Prior to progressions, the hosts served a dessert course with cof fee. Bridge was played at two tables with Mrs. George Maundy and S. R. Suber, Jr., winning high score prizes. Potted plant flowers were used in decoration throughout the home. Mrs. H. N. Moss Fetes Afternoon Boole Club Mrs. H. N. Moss was hostess to members of the Thursday Af ternoon Book club when the club met for its December meeting last week. Mrs. R. G. Plonk, program chairman for the month, present ed her daughter, Mrs. James Mercer, who gave a Christmas program entitled, "Christmas Carols", and read and (discussed portions of the Christmas Story as related in Saint Luke's Gos pel. A short business session follow ed conducted hy the hostess, who is president of the club. Bowls of yellow and bronze chrysanthemums were ust'd in de coration throughout the home. Re freshments were enjoyed during the social period after the meet ing. Masterpoint Winners Listed For Thursday Winners in the Masterpoint bridge game played Thursday night here at Kings Mc untaln Country club have been announc ed. Winners follow in north-south and east-west positions. North-South: Mrs. Mart S. Reid and Mrs Phil Jackson, both of Gastonia. first; Mrs. Jacob Cooper and Mrs. George Houser, second; Mr. and Mrs. George Staples, Gastonia, third; and Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Page, Charlotte, fourth. East West bridge winners were Mrs. Joe Neisler and Mrs. Amps Dean, first: Mrs. W. L. Ramseur and Mrs. Don Bianton, second: C. E. Warlick. Kings Mountain, and J. A Postell. Charlotte, third; and Mr, and Mrs. B. C. Morrow, Gastonia, fourth. Saturday Night Bazaar Held At Grover School Memhers of the Grover school Parent Teacher association spon sored a bazaar at the school last Saturday night to benefit the school activity bus and school library projfeis. Sale of chicken pie plates be (ja-n at ?:30 p. m.. and the bazaar began at 7:30 o'clock in the school rooms. Articles offered to the public In cluded handmade quilts, pies, cakes, preservo*. jams, and jfl Iflps in addition to other articles made and prepared by the stu dents. Mrs. W. B. Harry is PTA pre sident and Mrs. Fred Cocl.-ell was chairman in charge of pub iicity for the event.
