The home was de corated with arrangements of greenery and seasonal material. Ten members were present. Mrs. J. E. Herndon, regent, call ed the meeting to order and led the regular D. A. R. ritual. Mn H. T. Fulton, program leader for the afternoon, Introduced Rev. P. L. Shore, Jr., who spoke on "The Sunday School ? the Key To To morrow." ' Superintendents of all Sunday Schools of Kings Mountain churches were invited to share in the discussion. Rev. Shore based his remark? on an article by J. Edgar Hoover. He brought out the rise of juve nile delinquency as traced to the failure of the Sunday School. He pointed out that out of 8,000 de linquent children, only 42 regu larly attended Sunday School and raised the question of why these 42 failed. Rev. Shore discussed the two-fold responsibility of parents in creating an atmosphere of Christian living in the home and in seeing that their children have the opportunity to receive the formal training of the Sunday School. Two failures in our national existence, Rev. Shore pointed out, are the failure of the home and the failure of Christian ideals to overcome the materialistic stan dards. Since the crime problem is a youth problem, the Sunday School offers essential moral and religious training, he said. The destiny of our nation is in the hands of the young people, and with the help of the Sunday School, the nation and the world will become better places, he con cluded. Mrs. W. T. Weir gave interest ing reports of national defense news. Mrs. Herndon gave ex cerpts from the President Gen eral's message. During the business session* minutes were read and corrected.
