Ladies Honored By Woman's Club Members of the American Home and Education Department of Kings Mountain Woman's club entertained at an informal afternoon Christmas p'/rty Tues day at the Woman's club. The pafty complimented ''Gold en Age" citizens of the communi ty. Forty members of the group attended the party in addition to charter members of the organi zation and members of the host club. The Woman's club low*1 r floor was decorated with Christmas ar rangements and throughout the club lounge and entrance hall, decorations of red and green were, used. Guests were grebted by Mrs. R. D. Arrowood and Mrs. J. T. Lathem. co-chairmen of the de partment. at the front entrance to the club. Christmas corsages were pinned on each guest by Mrs. H. C. Mayes, Mrs. J. L. McGlll, and Mrs. J. H. Arthur. ? Addrtess of welcome was given by Mrs. H. C. Mayes In the dining room, where guests were seated. Mrs. Franklin Pethel led the group In carol singing before a program presented by Mrs. P. L. Shore, Jr., who read "My Son" as a- recitation. Robert Morris, Jr., sang as a solo, "Silent Night." The program was closed by a group song, "Joy To The World." Mrs. J. H. Arthur and Mrs, B. N. Rarnes poured tea from a re freshment table overlaid with a green satin cloth, flanked on eith er side by silver candelabra hold Second Baptist Circle Held Meeting Tuesday Mrs, H. H. Smith was hostess to members of the Rachel Hum* phries circle of Second Baptist church when thb group met for their December meeting Tuesday night. Eight members were present 'and the group participated In a program entitled "Christmas And On Earth Peace". Mrs. Em mtett Benfield read a devotional and the Christmas story passage from Luke II and a prayer open ed the meeting. ? Mrs. Henry Carroll closed the meeting with prayer. Others as sisting in the program were Mrs. S. O. Kirby and Mrs. Farmer, During thfe social hour, the hos tess was assisted in serving re freshments by Mrs, B. R. Tate. Charter members recognized at the event were Mrs. C. E. Neisler, Mrs. J. E. Aderholdt, Mrs. H, T. Fulton, Mrs. S. A. Mauney, Mrs. H. N. Moss. Mrs. B. M. Ormand, Mrs. E. L. Campbell, all of Kings Mountain, and Mrs. George Pat terson of Gastonia. Lily Austin Circle Held December Meeting Members of the Lily Austin Circle of Second Baptist church held their December meeting Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Archie Burton with Mrs, I la Fipps as co-hostess. Mrs. Jack Stono opened the meeting with prayer followed by a devotional reading by Mrs. L W. Ledford. Mrs. Fipps presented a short talk for the program en titled, "Christmas", and Mrs. Burton read "The Blessedness of Christmas," A silent meditation period and a directed prayer led by Mrs. Marvin Wright closed the program. The living room of the hos tesses' home was decorated with Christmas decorations. One end of the room held a Christmas manger scene decoration with the other end made to resemble a commercialized Christmas seen*?. Gifts were exchanged during the social period and the hostess es served a salad plate with ac. cessories.
