Kings Mountain
Historical Book
To Be Reprinted
GASTONIA ? Mrs. Monte Wal
es of Gastonla has signed a con
tract with the Continental Book
Company of Columbus, Ga., to
reprint Lyman C. Draper's his
torical book, "Kings Mountain
and Its Heroes."
Draper's book has been out of
print for many years, and should
be a fast-seller in this section
when the first copies come off
the press in about three months.
Draper's was first published in
1831 by Thompson 6 Co., in Cin
cinnati Three thousand copies
were printed, but when only balf
of them had been distributed the
printing plant was destroyed by
fire. All unsold copies, plates,
copy and proofs were lost.
The book later was reprinted
in 1930, but only a limited num-.
ber were available and the price
was high. At one time, the book
wasvselling for as high as $50 a
copy.
Draper's is considered the most,
accurate account ever written of
the Battle of Kings Mountain.
