Temple Baptist Circle Held Meeting On Monday Members of the Ellen Irene Lediord circle of Temple, Baptist church held their regular Janu ary meeting Monday night with Mrs. Agnes Cole as hostess at her ] home on Waco road. A two-part program "A Sinful World' ? A Sufficient Savior" And "The World At Our Door Steps" was presented by Mrs. Agnes Cole, Mrs. Pauline Bridges, Mrs. Paul Ledford, Mrs. E. O. White, and Mrs. E; B. Cooke. Mrs. Cole was program chair man. Mrs. W. A. Chllders closed the program with a report of the cir cle work during the year. Mrs. Cooke read a devotional and Mrs. Cole cloned the meeting with prayer. Mrs. E. B. Cooke, chairman, presided over the business ses ? sion. Reports were heard from! Mrs. E. O. White, secretary, and Mrs. Paul Ledford, treasurer. Re. ports from committees were heard. A gift from the circle was pre sented to A. A. Jolly, a member of the church who left Tuesday morning to enter W'inston-Salem Baptist hospital for treatment. Members planned as a circle project for the month a "sun shine" box for shut-ins of the community to be prepared at the honfe of Mrs. W. C. Ledford. Following the meeting a social hour was enjoyed. The hostess was assisted in serving a dessert course with coffee. , Mrs. E. B. Cooke will be hos tess to the circle In February. The meeting was opened v/.'th a group hymn, "Sweet Hour of Prayer." Mrs. George White gave thb devotional and prayer was offered by Mrs. S. O. Klrby. Program for the meeting, "De votional Moments", was present ed by Mrs. Farmer. Mrs. Klrby, Mrs. White, Mrs. B. F. Austin, and Mrs. Ilenry Carroll. The group sang "I Need Thee Every Hour" and a prayer by Mrs. Car rol) closed- the meeting. Following the meeting, a social hour was enjoyed. The hostess, assisted by Mrs. Henry Carroll, served party refreshments. Mrs. W. R. Hudspeth Evening Circle Hostess Mrs. W. R. Hudspeth was hos tess to members of Circle No. 7 of Central Methodist church when the group held Its regular monthly meeting Monday night. Mrs. Gall McDanlel gave the devotional ' at the beginning of the meeting. Mrs. Boyer Murray, guest speaker, presented the pro gram on "A Mighty Fortress." Mrs. Clarence Peele. circle chairman, called the business part of the meeting to order and presldWl over the business ses sion. Following th<* business ses sion, a social hour was enjoyed and refreshments were served. TVelve members and one visi tor were present. Miss Marie Lineberger Monday Circle Hostess Members of Circle No. 9 of Central Methodist church held their regular January meeting Monday night with Miss Marie Lineberger as hostess at-- her home on Parker street. Mrs. C. A. Butterworth, presi dent of the Women's Missionary Society of Christian Service, was guest speaker for the meeting. Other visitors at the circle meet ing were Miss Janet Scoggins and Miss Jette Plonk. Mrs. Delbert Dixon, circle chairman, presided over the busi ness session. Following the meeting, the hos tess was assisted in serving a des sert course with coffee. Methodist Circle 5 Held Meeting Monday Mrs. David Hamriok was hos tess to members of Circle No. 5 of Central Methodist church 'when the group held its regular meet ing Monday night. Mrs. A. J. Argo, returned mis sionary and wife of Rev. A. J. Argo, pastor of First Wesleyan Methodist church, was guest speaker and spoke to the yroup on "Missionary Work." Miss Grace Davis presented the devotional. Mrs. Y. F. Throne * burg, circle chairman, conducted the business session. Mrs. Argo closed the meeting with prayer. C.. visited Mr. Miss Diana Gamble Hostess To Circle Elizabeth Kunyon circle ratem bers of First. Baptist church held their January meeting Monday night with Miss Diana Gamble as hostess. '? Mrs. M. C. Amos, program chairman for the month, was in charge of- the program for the meeting and the devotional peri od prior to the program. During the business session presided over by Miss Gamble, circle chairman, members dis cussed circle projects and Com munity Missions. Mrs. Ben H. -Bridges, Jr., was welcomed into the circle as a new member. Mrs. Arnold W. Kincaid, president of the Women's Mis sionary Society of the First Bap tist church, was a visitor. Following the meeting, a so cial hour was enjoyed. The hos tess assisted by her mother, Mrs. J. W. Gamble, , served refresh ments. Macedonia Baptist WMU Held Meeting Monday Membern of thfe Macedonia Baptist church WMU held their regular meeting Monday night with Mrs. Ray Wright. Twelve members were present. Mrs. Kenneth Morrison was a visitor. Mrs. Forrest Weaver optened the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Ruth Lynn, program chairman, was In charge of the program. Topic for the discus sion was "The World At Our Door Steps", and members tak ing part on the program were Mrs. R. L. Hardin, Mrs. O. T. Gunnells, Mrs. Ray Wright, Mrs. Robert Champion, Mrs. J. E. Do ver, Mrs. Earl Stroupb, and Miss Dutch Cloninger. Mrs. James Bolin concluded the program with a readjng, "Won ders of the Cross." During the social hour, the hos tess was assisted in passing re freshment plates consisting of cupcakes, potato sticks, sand wiches, pickles, cake, nuts, and cofPee. The February meeting of the WMU will be held at the home of Mis. O. T. GunnolW , Mrs. Meek Carpenter Monday Circle Hostess Membters of Circle No. 6 of Central Methodist church met Monday night with Mrs. Meek A. Carpenter as hostess. Mrs. J. C. McKlnney, circle chairman, presided over the busi ness session. Mrs. C. J. Gault, Jr., gave the dovotlonal and offered the open ing prayer. Mrs. Ben F. Beam gave the program for the meet ing.. After the meeting, Mrs. Car penter assisted by Mrs. Paul Brigg's served a salad course with Russian tea. Twelve members attended the ; meeting. Mrs. Oren Fulton and Mrs. D. D. Saunders will be hos tesses to the circle in February. Dorothy Lee Morris Circle Meeting Held The Dorothy Lee Morris circle of Temple Baptist church met at the home of Mrs. Bob Grigg, Monday evening at 7:30. Five members were present. "The World At Our Door Step" was the theme of the program. Those taking part In* the program were Mrs.- David Morris, Mrs. Herbert Dover, Mrs. Bob Grigg, Mrs. Norman Davis, and Mrs. Jessie IIo U Pennington. The de votion was led by Mrs. David Morris, circle chairman. After the program, a short business meeting was held. Mrs. Dewey Styers was elected to the office of Sunbteam Cradleroll Worker. The hostess was assisted in serving a sweet course with ac cessories. January Meeting Held Of Methodist UircTe 8 Members of Circle No. 8 of Central Methodist church met Monday night with Mrs. Robert Neill as hostess at her home on Phlfer road. Ten members were present. The meeting was opened with a period of silent prayer, and a devotional was read by Mrs. A. A. Allran. She Ui?ed as scriptural background Corinthians 1:12. Mrs. Neill, the hostess, present ed the program. The topic of the monthly discussion was "Love Never Faileth". "Love Divine" was sung by the group. Mrs. P. L Shore. Jr., chairman, conducted the business session. Mrs. Edith Goforth invited the group to meet at her home in February. The meeting was closed with a prayer for the New Year by Mrs. Shore. During the social hour, the hostess served refreshments. Presbyterian Circle Held January Meeting Members of Circle No. m of First Presbyterian church met Monday night with Mrs. Hal D. Ward as hostess. Mrs. R. H. Webb gave the Bi ble study and Mrs. P. G. Padgett program chairman for January, gave the program. A short business session was conducted toy Mrs. J. W. Webster.
