Tjt /<><<< ['f Ik Elizabeth Stewart, Editor Macedonia Baptist Ga's Held Saturday Meeting Members of the Girl's Auxili ary of Macedonia Baptist church held their regular meeting Satur day morning at the church and heard presented a program on "Foreign Missions." Martha Hardin, GA president, called the business part of the meeting to order and presided over the routine business session. Barbara Lynn gave the treasur er's rteport and reports from the committee in charge of commu nity missions was heard. Members repeated the GA watchword and sang in unison the GA hymn, "We've A Story To Tell To The Nations." Prayer was pflcvet1 by Mrs. James Bolln, counstellor. Brenda McDaniel read "A Mes sage of the New Year." Program parts were presented by Martha Hardin who gave a reading on "My Foreign Student Friends"; Brenda Herndon, "Estterlna Shems of Israel"; Libby Medlin, "Yola Avram of Athens Greece"; and Delores White, "Joan Aurom of Scotland." The program was arranged by program co-chairmen Barbara Lynn and Brenda McDaniel. A scripture reading and devo tional was givten by Petey Lynn. The group sang "Guha" and "Ar chana", Indian songs, as their | meeting was adjourned. Mrs. H. T. Fulton, Sr. Circle Hostess Monday ? Mrs. H. T. Fulton, Sr.,. was ho? ttess to members of Circle No. II of Central Methodist church when the group held Its January meeting Monday morning". Mrs. J. O. Plonk, Sr., conducted the devotional period. Mrs. Hu bert Carlisle, program chairman . for the month, gave the program, | entitled "Love Nevter Faileth". A short business session was conducted by Mrs. H. C. Mayes, , circle chairman. Two visitors, Mrs. C. A. Butterworth and Mrs. J. W. Crosland, were present. After the meeting, a social hour was enjoyed. Mrs. Fulton assisted bv her daughter., Mrs. N. F. McGlll, served a salad plate with Russian tea. Reqular Stag Night Held At Country Club Regular stag night at Kings | Mountain Country club was held Friday night. Dinner was served in the club | dining room and a large number of men were present for the af- 1 fair. Yellow jasmine and other sea sonal flowers in bowl containers wtere used in decoration. Cedar arrangements were also used. i Lottie Blalock Circle Held Meeting Saturday Members of thte Lottie Blalock circle of Belhlehem Baptist church met Saturday afternoon with Mrs. Rush Dixon as hostess. Mrs. Earl Morris, circle chair man, presided and conducted the business session. Plans for the year were discus sted and commit tees appointed. AftVr the business session, Mrs. Alex Owens gave a program on "Reading Our Church Litera ture." Following the meeting a social hour was enjoyted. Light refresh ments were served. Mrs. Fred W. Plonlc Fetes Duplicate Club Duplicate Bridge club mem bers held their regular meeting Monday afternoon with Mrs. Fred W. Plonk as hostess at her home on Crescent Circle. Mrs. P. E. Hendricks won high score award in bridgfe for the afternoon. Mrs. Sam Davis and Mrs. J. B. Simpson tied for se cond high awards. Miss Evelyn Johnson Weds Former Resident Miss Evelyn Johnson of Lenoir and Atlanta, Ga., and Robert Smith, former Kings Mountain resident now living in Atlanta, Ga., were united in marriage in a simple ceremony performed In Chattanooga, Tenn., the latter part of December. The bride wore a two-pitece navy blue woolen suit with mat ching accessories and a white shoulder corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Smith returned to their home in Atlanta, Ga., Sun day after visiting the bride's pa rents ij\ Lenoir and the groom's patents, Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Smith here. Both are employed in Atlan ta. Mr. Smith had made his home in Atlanta for the past several years with his sister, Mrs. Ran dolph Carter, where he Is em ployed In the taxi establishment. Ace Of Clubs Meeting Held At Country Club Members of thte Ace of Clubs met Thursday afternoon at Kings Mountain Country club with Mrs. L. E. Abbott as hostess. ?After games had been conclud ed, high score award was pre sented to Mrs. Jacob Cooper. Mrs. Howard Jackson won second-high award. Buffet Dinner Sunday At Country Club Here A buffet dinner will be served at Kings Mountain Country club Suhday to members of the club, their families, and guests. Mrs. B, B. Speidel, hostess at the club, made the announcement this week and said that reserva tions are requested for the Sun day dinner. The meal will be serv ed from 12 o'clock noon until 1:30, she said. Plates for adults are $1.75 and, for children under 12 years of age, $1.
