STATEMENT CJ? T?E RESULT OF THE ? SPECIAL *ONP ELECTION held in the CITY OF KINGS MOUNTAIN. NORTH CAROLINA At a special bond election .held January 16, 1954, 2332 voters were registered and qualified to vote. At said election 484 votes were cast for the ordinance authoriz ing the City of Kings Mountain to contract a dobt and In evidence thereof to Issue not exceeding $250,000 Water Bonds of the City for the purpose of providing funds for enlarging and extending- the waterworks system of the City, including the enlargement of the 1 treatment plant, the installation of water mains and lines/and the acquisition of necessary lands and rights of way, and author izing the levy and collection of a sufficient tax for the payment of the principal of and the interest on said bonds, and 189 votes Were cast against said ordinance, and said ordinance was thereby approved and is in force and'effect. At said election 495 votes were cast for the ordinance, authoriz ing the City of Kings Mountain to contract a debt and in evidence thereof to issue not exceeding $200,000 Sanitary Sewer Bonds of the City for the purpose of providing funds for enlarging "and ex tending the sanitary sewer system of the City, including the con struction of a Sewage treatment plant, the installation of sewer lines, and the acquisition of necessary lands and rights of way, and authorizing the levy and collection of a sufficient tax for the payment of the principal of and the interest on said bonds, and 177 votes were cast aga'inst said ordinance, and said ordinance was thereby approved and is in force and effect. At said election 422 votes were cast for the ordinance authoriz ing the City of Kings Mountain to contrac?t a debt and In evidence thereof to issuo not exceeding 5150,000 Recreation Facilities Bonds of the City for the purpose of providing funrs for recreational fa cilities including two swimming pools and all buildings and structures necessary or useful in" connection therewith, and the acquisition of necessary land, and authorizing the levy and col lection of a Sufficient tax for the payment of the principal of and the intel-est on said "bonds, and 237 votes werd cast against said ordinance, and said ordinance was thereby approved and Is in force and effect. At said election 397 votes were cast for the levy of an annual tax of not more than five cents (5c) on each one hundred dollars <$100) of assessed valuation of the taxable property within the City of Kings Mountain, if found necessary by the Board of Com missioners, for providing, conducting and maintaining a super vised recreation system, and 236 votes were cast against said tax, and the levy of such tax was thereby approved.
