Spiritual Life Group Held Meeting Monday : Members of the Spiritual Life group of Central Methodist church held their regular meet ing Monday night in the pastor's study of the church. Mrs. P. L. Shore, Sr., was in charge of a meditation - devo tional for thte meeting. She read "Measures and Weights" for the. devotional. > The meeting convened at 7:30 prior to the regular meeting of the Woman's Society of Chris tian Service, which met at 8 o'clock at the church. Mrs. Shoite offered the closing prayer. ? Bridge Luncheon Tuesday Set At Country Club Here A duplicate bridge game is to be played at Kings Mountain Country club Tuesday with, games to begin at 10 o'clock, Mrs. B. 0. Speldel, club hostess, announced this week. Luncheon will be servted at 1 o'clock 'after the bridge games, Mrs. Speidel said, and reserva tions are requested by Monday evening. Price of the dinner is $1.50. ' Mrs. Forrest Weaver, vice president, presided in thte absence of Mrs. Wright Falls, president, who has been confined to her home with sickness for the past week. Routine business was discussed and reports werte given by the secretary and treasurer. Mrs. George Sellers, chaplain, gave the devotional. Prayer was offered. Following the meeting, a social hour was enjoyed. Mrs. Blllie Sue Blalock, Mrs. Ruth Lynn, Mrs. Frances Blanton, and Mrs. Dew ey Caldwell passed refreshment plates consisting of sandwiches, potato chips, pie, and coffee. Methodist Church WSCS Held Meeting On Monday Members of the Woman's So ciety of Christian Service of Cen tral Methodist church held their regular meeting Monday evening at the. church. The meeting was held after the regular Spiritual Life group meeting. Mrs. Bun Goforth opened the meeting with prayer. Mrs. P, E. Hendricks, vice-president, presid ed in the absendb of Mrs. C. A. Butterworth, president. Mrs. D. R. Hamrick, program chairman for the month, present: ed the program, and members discussed the special study ses sion being held during church hours for the primary and junior Sunday School department stu dents of the church. Theme of the program was "Spanish Speaking Americans". Mrs. Bun Goforth announced that Circle No. 7 would prepare a sup per for the Official Board. Mrs. B. F. Beam closed the meeting with prayer. Charlotte Decorator To Speak At Meeting Members of the American Home and Education Depart ments of Kings Mountain Wo man's club will meet Monday night at 7:30 at the Woman's club building. Mrs. A. W. Shte was guest speaker at a young people's meeting at the White Oak ARP church in Atlan ta, Ga., Sunday, afternoon. While in Atlanta, she was a house guest of a former Erskine col lege class-mate. Mrs. Hayne Blackmer Hostess To Bridge Club i Mrs. Hayne Blackmer was hos tess to members of the Tuesday Afternoon Bridge club when thte group met last Tuesday, Janu ary 12, at Kings Mountain Coun try club. Arrangements of mixed flow ers and potted plants were used in club decoration. Mrs. H. R. Neisler won high score award in bridge for the af ternoon with Mrs. L. E. Abbott winning thte visitor's score prize. Mrs. Wright, who has been visit ing her daughter, Mrs. L. Arnold Kiser, was remembered with a gift from the hostess. After bridge progressions, the hostess was assisted in serving a salad plate with desstert and coffee. The bridge club meets weekly on Tuesday afternoons. Parent-Teacher Group To See 3R Film Wednesday "Skippy And The 3 R's", a 16 mm motion picture portrayal of how first - graders learn to read, write, and do arithmetic, was shown to parents and teach ers at both the East school PTA meeting Tuesday and at the West school PTA meteting yesterday. The film will also be shown at the Central school Parent-Teach er meeting next Wednesday, Jan uary 27 at the school auditorium. Kings Mountain Group Attends Bridge Session Mrs. W. K. Mauntey, Jr? Mrs. H. R. House And Garden Club Held Meeting Wednesday Members of the House and Garden club held their regular monthly meeting last Wednesday afternoon at Kings Mountain Country club with Mrs. G. E. Bridges as hostess. Mrs. Ennis Jackson and Mrs. Boshamer, both of Gastonla, pre sented the program on "Plstriet Garden Club Work" arranged by Mrs. Aubrey Mauney, program chairman for January, who pre sented the speakers. Organization of garden clubs was emphasized by Mrs, Jackson, district garden club president, who spoke also on an Elizabeth an garden club project. Mrs. Bos hamer, district Junior Garden club director, spoke on Junior Garden club work in the district. Jirs. Jacob Cooper, club presi dent, conducted the business ses sion and announced a meeting of i the N. C. Garden club board which convenes in two-day ses sion February- 9-11 in Pinehurst. Arrangements of foliage were brought by Mrs. J. C. Bridges and Mrs. Sam Davis. Mrs. Brid ges displayed a foliage crescent shape arrangement of eucalyptus with Sedum plants in an oblong smoked pottery container, and Mrs. Davis displayed an arrange ment of rolled galax leaves with sansiyera background in a flat green bowl container. After the meeting, the hostess was assisted in passing dessert plates of pecan pie and cheese straws with coffee. TWeiVe members attended the meeting. Mrs. W. I.
