Smith was caught speeding while driving, a vehicle belonging to Sweat. Judge Jack White found the defendant Willis Smith guilty as charged, and Na thaniel Sweat not guilty as charge ed. Sweat stated ok the witness stand that he asked Smith to stop when he realized that officer's were signaling for them to stop. Willis Smith was given a 4 mon ths sentence, suspended on condi tion that hte pay a $33 fine and cost of court. The defendant's drivers license were also revoked by the state. A new warrant for public drunkenness against J. B. Burrls, Negrp, who wm to be tried op two slmlllar counts, wag is# ued by Judge Whltfe. Burrls appeared In toxicated In cpurt to answer the counts. Judge White continued prayer for Jud gement for 30 days, Sarah Smith, Negress, plead guilty to the charge of public drunkenness and was sentenced to be imprlsioned In Woman's Prison for a period of 30 days. This sentence is to run concur rently with a 2 year sentence the defendant had received in Bes semer City Recorders court Jan uary 25. Luther Harris plead guilty to operating a motor vehicle with out driving license, and was giv en a 30 day sentence suspended on condition timt he pay a fine of $25 and costs of court.
