Saturday morning a Ford two door car driven by Samuel E. Crawford, route 1, Clover, S. C., struck a 1950 Pontlac two-door car driven by Sam Young, 246 Pursley strteet, R^ek Hill, S.'C., on the right rear fender. The ac cident occurred at the Inter sec tions of East King street and Cleveland avenue. Damages sustained by both cars werte estimated to be $275. Coach Don Parker's quint re mains in second place In South Group, Western A'A Conference standings, slightly ahead of Ru therfordton - Spindale, perched in third place with an 8-2 record. Lincolnton is on top with a 10-2 record. Rutherfordton . Spindale takes on Forest City at home Friday and moves to Shelby for a return engagement Tuesday. The third (place team has lost only to Kings Mountain and Lincolnton. The South Group's two tourn ament spots will most likely go to two of the three clubs now at the top of the ladder,. The Kings Mountain girls team will be shooting lor a second win over Chterryvllle, having posted their initial victory of the season at Cherryville on January 19 by 39-29, and will be gunning for a split on the season with Civroleen. Caroleen won the first meeting 57-42. Optimist To Name Officers Tonight Formal organization of the Kings Mountain Optimist club will be completed at a meeting Thursday, at 6:30, with District ?Governor Hugh Cranford, of Charlotte, ?rfd John Parker and Holland London, oif Optimist In ternational, to conduct the meet ing. Tommy Owens, temporary sec retary -treasurer of the group, made the announcement. The group will meet, Mr. Owens said, at Corner Cafe for a *"Dutch" supper preceding a ibusiness meeting at the courtroom at which time officers will be elec ted and installed. The Kings Mountain club is being sponsored by the Shelby Optimists. L. J. Bailey is presi dent of the Shelby clUto. "Youth," Mr. Owens said, "is the objective of Optimist organi zations, and a large group of business and professional men here have. evidenced interest in starting a local club that will play ? role in youth activities in Kings Mountain," he continued.
