Bridges as hosts at Kings Mountain Country club. I ' Xlueste playing, in addition to club members, were Dr. and Mrs. J. C. McGill. Winners In bridge lor the evening were J. E, An :? thony, Jr., and Dan Finger. Arrangements of early spring flowers and other decorations in lied and white were used through out the club. After games had been enjoyed, a dessert course with coffee was passed. Frances Hamilton Circle Held Meeting Monday Night Members of the Frances Ham ilton circle of Boyce Memorial ARP church held their regular monthly meeting Monday night' at the home of Mrs. Don Craw ford with Mrs. T. 11. Crawford as co- hostess. Miss Janet Scogglns, program chairman, had arranged a pro gram on "Love for God and Man," and Mrs. Edgar Sellers and Miss Shirley Sellers took part on the program, which also included a discussion of Erskine College. Mrs. W. L,. Pressly, circle chair man. conducted the business session after the program. ?During the social hour, re- , freshments were served. The I George Washington birthday theme was carried out and dish gardens, potted plants, and ar rangements of jonquils were us ed in decoration throughout the home. Mrs. W. L. Ramseur Scores High In Bridge Mrs. W. L. Ramseur was high score Winner in bridge at the reg ular monthly bridge luncheon played at Kings Mountain Coun try club here Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Two tables of brldgte were in play and following the games, luncheon was served by Mrs. B. B. Speldel, Country club hostess. Spring flowers were used in decoration throughout the club. I Minnie Alexander Circle Held Afternoon Meeting Minnie Alexander circle mem bers of Boyce Memorial ARP church met Monday afternoon with Mrs, N. F. McGlll as circle hostess at her home. Mrs. McGill, circle chairman, conducted the business session af ter a program on "Christian Ed ucation" given by Miss Shirlfey Sellers. Members also discussed Erskine College during the pro gram. During the social hour, the hos tess was assisted In passing a des ert course with tea. Ten mem biers attended the meeting. Spring flowers were used in decoration throughout the home.. Duplicate Bridge Club Held Meeting On Monday Duplicate Bridge cluto members met Monday afternoon with Mrs. L. E. At?bott as clu'b hostess at her home. Guests Invited to play with club members were Mrs. C. T. Carpenter, Jr., and .Mrs. .Hayne Blackmer. Mrs. Carpenter won high score In bridge for the aft ernoon with Mrs. Blackmer re ceiving the second-high award. Arrangements of jonquils and japonlca were used in decoration throughout the home. Mrs. Ab bott was assisted in passing a salad course with accessories. * Mrs. W. S. Fulton, Jr. Circle Hostess Monday Members oFthe Frances Garrl son circle of Boyce Memorial ARP church met Monday evening With Mrs. W. S. Fulton, Jr., as hostess at her home. Mrs. M. D. Phifter, program chairman, had arranged a pro gram on "Christian Education". Shei was assisted by Mrs. Garri son Goforth in presenting the pro gram, which also included a dis cussion on Erskine College. A three-part Bible study on "The Man ? Jesus", "The Cruci fixion, and "Our Living Lord" was also given by Mrs. Phlfer, and Mrs. Fulton, chairman, con ducted the business session. Circle members voted to pre sent Mrs. B. L. Hamilton, mis sionary In India and mother of Mrs. John C. McGill, a life mem bership. During the social hour, the hos tess was assisted in serving deli clous refreshments. Miss Lenora Fulton, of Atlanta, Ga., Was a weekend visitor at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W, S. Tim Gladden, of Camp Rucker, Ala., returned to his base Monday after spending several days at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Gladden. Mrs. J. O. Plonk is visiting at the home ot her daughter, Mr. ana Mss. W. H. McElwee, in North Wilktesboro. Mrs. Conrad Hughes returned to her home here Saturday after spending a week's visit with her sons, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hughes and f&mily, Mr. and Mrs, Jack Hughes and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ray Hughes and fam ily, in Newberry, S. C. Shle was accompanied home by her son, John Lewis Hughes, who spent the weekend here with his pa rents. Mrs. E. L. Carlton Baptist Circle Hostess Members of the Sophia Nichols circle of First Baptist church met last Tuesday night, February 16, with Mrs. E, L. Carlton as hos tess at her home. Mrs. Paul. Cole, circle chair man, presided over the business session. A program entitled, "The New Orleans Story" was read by the hostess, Mrs. Carlton. Miss Pauline Mauney of Salis bury And Miss Anne Stroud of Greensboro were weekend guests of Miss Mauney's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mauney. Rev. and Mrs. J. G. Winkler of Marion were visitors in Kings Mountain last Wednesday. Rev. Winkler, now serving as district superintendent of the Marlon dis trict, is a former pastor of Cen tral Methodist church hfcre. Mrs. Erwin Hughes and Miss Shirley Hughes spent the week end in New York where they visited TE/SN Erwin N. Hughes, who, is stationed there before lea ving for French Morocco, where he is to be stationed for the next ten months. They left Thursday and returned to Kings Mountain Sunday. While in New York, they were guests of Mrs. Hatcher Hughes and Miss Ranny Hughes. Wedding Party Feted At Saturday Cake Cutting Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Yarborough and Mr., and Mrs. Haywood Yar borough entertained at the home of the former on Shelby road Saturday evening at a cake-cut ting following the church re hearsal for the Lee ? Yaifborough wedding in the Baptist church of Boiling Springs. Miss Lee wore a gray taffeta dress with white sequin trim and a shoulder corsage of pink carn ations, gift of the hosts, which was presented to her on her ar rival. The refreshment table, over laid with a white imported linen cloth, was centered with a three tiered white wedding cake and flanked iby triple silver candela brum, which held white lighted tapers. Ivy and white gladioli de corated the brides' table and the table which held the punch bowl. An arrangement of all white carnations and bridegroom figurines in a white satin-cover ed bowl was used in decoration in the entrance hall. Mrs. R. R. Yarborough cut the wedding cake after the bride and groom had cut the traditional first-piece of cake. She was as sisted in serving the cake to the guests toy iMrs. B. CX. Weaver. Miss Katherine Spearm&n pre sided at the punch bowl, and de corated mints and salted nuts' were passed. Forty-five guests attended the rehearsal party. Park Grace School PTA Held Meeting On Monday Members of the Park Grace Elemfentary school Parent'- Tea cher association held their regu lar monthly meeting Monday night In the school auditorium. - Mrs. James Bolin, PTA presi dent, called the meeting to order and presided over the business session. Mrs. Henderson Herndon read the treasurer's report, and Mrs. James Clonlnger was ap pointed PTA secretary for the re mainder of the year. Mrs. Goldman Spears, Mrs. Bud Falls, and Mrs. Raymond Mullinax were appointed to a no minating committee to elect club officers for the year. Seventh grade pupils of Mrs. J. C. Nickels gave a minuet dance as a part of the program, and Mrs. James Mercer showed the group a film on "Child Guidance". Mrs. Nevette Hughes was In charge of a devotional for the meeting. Students at Appalachian State Teacher's college, Boone, expect ed to come home Friday to spend the weekend with their parents are Joyce Biser, Bob Ooforth, Charles Painter.
