JAMES DICKINSON Dickey-Dickinson Vows Pledged Feb. 6 In Impressive Ceremony In Mississippi Miss Nancy Brldgett Dickey, daughter of Mrs. Paul of Kings Mountain and the late Ja mes Robert Dickey, became the bride of Kenneth Dickinson, son of James Dickinson of New York and Florida and the late Mrs. Dickinson, in an impressive cere mony on February 6th at 4 o' Mississippi. Vows of the double-ring ser vice wbre used. Mrs. Dickinson is a graduate of Kings Mountain high school and received her bachelor of arts de gree In 1950 from the Woman's College of the University of North I 1 Carolina, at Chapel Hill. She was employed in sociologi cal work two years in Concord and will rfecelve her master of arts degree in Social work Jn June from the George Warren Brown School of Social work at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. MrJ2ickinson_is 1950 gradu ate of Harvard University, was employed by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children in Rochester, New York, and at tended George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Wash ington University. He was a member of the armed Home Mission Program To Be Given V'odnesday James Chasteen qt Bessemer City will be guest soloist for the "Freedom's Holy Light", a Home Mission program, at the First Baptist church here Wednesday night. Rev. H. Gordon Weakley, Jr., pastor of the church, will offer the opening prayer and welcome the congregation. Program speakers ; for the meeting are Mrs. Rowell Lane, Mrs. H. Gordon Weekley, Jr., Mrs. Paul Cole, Miss Diana Gam ble, Miss Pat Henderson, Miss Naomi Edens, Miss Pat Freeman, and Miss Lyvonne Lindsay. They will bring out in their discussion how the Annie Armstrong Home Mission offering Is used to carry out mission work among the ori-, ental people in the United States. Mrs. Yates Harbison will por tray a plctuite of an oriental girl, and Mrs. K. L> Carlton will repre sent "the yoke of bondage." The program will be presented again st a background of the Cross of Calvary. Mrs. W. B. Logan will conduct the devotional. Mrs. A. W. Kin caid is WMU president. Mrs. Howard Ware Baptist GA Hostess Mrs. Howard Ware was hos tess to members of the Stella Aus tin Girl's Auxiliary of First Bap tist church for the group's regu lar meeting Tuesday night. A group hymn, "We've A Story to Tell to the Nations", opened the meeting. The pledge of alle giance and watch-word were giv en and prayer was offered by the leader, Mrs. Ware. CRAWFORD Ross-Crawford Vows Pledged Saturday In Formal Afternoon Church Ceremonv Miss Eva Nell Ross, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Ross, of Kings Mountain, and Samuel E. Crawford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Crawford, of Clover, Route 1, were united in marriage ut 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon at? Grace Methodist church, Kings Mountain. The Revprend Bayne W. Lefler, former pastor of the bride, was the officiating minister. The couple pledged vows of the impressive double ring ceremony before an altar background of large medallions of cut Oregon fern and seven-branched floor candelabrum which formed an arch. Two floor baskets holding white snapdragons were used at e?ch side of the altar, and the al tar rail was draped in white with a garland of Oregon fern. Family bridesmaids were marked with white satin bows with sprays of plumosuB fern. Miss Margaret Huffstetler, or ganist, presented a musical pro gram consisting oi "I'll Walk Be side You," "Sweetest Story Ever Told," "Why Do I Love You", "The Day of Golden Promise," "Dearly Beloved," "O Promise Me," and "The Lord's Prayer." Prior to the ceremony, Mrs. Clarke Williams,, vocal soloist sang "Because" and "I Love You Truly. The Bridal Chorus from "Lo hengrin", by Wagner, was used for the processional, and Mendel ssohn's wedding march from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" was used for the recessional. Given in marriage by her fath- 1 er, the bride wore a Miriam Ori ginal gown of imported Chantilly lace. The shirred lade bodice fas hioned with drop shoulder neck line, filled in with a yoke of ny lon tulle and finished with a crushed lace bertha sparked in opalescent sequins. The bodice was caught down thfe bark with tiny lace covered -buttons. Long lace sleeves ending in calla points' over the hand added to the beau ty while the bouffant lace skirt, posed over slipper satin, and crin oline petticoats, had a full cath edral train. Her fingertip length veil was of imported silk illusion, and was attached to a matching lace and tulle cap, studded with pearls. She carried a white Bible, a gift from her Sunday School class, topped with a white orchid showerted with white roses and their natural foliage. Miss Dorene Ross was her sis ter's maid of honor. Her gown was of cornflower blue net ovel taffeta. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink Brlarclift roses and rose foliage.
