AT SHELBY MONDAY ? Igor Gorin, baritone, will sing at Shelby Monday night in the third 1953-54 program of the Cleveland County Community Concert association. New Club Organized At Central School The newly organized Kings Mountain High School Radio Club elected officers Tuesday. Officers are: president, Charles Yawn; vice president, Susan Moss; secretary - treasurer, Pat Coforth. High school students record the entire program. It consists of news and activities from East, West, and Central schools. The Badio Club broadcasts each Fri day from 5:45 to 6 o'clock. Of North Carolina's 293,401 ru ral homes, in 1950, more than 88 per cent were without bathrooms with bath, toilet, and running hot water.' The Annie Arm strong circlte of the First Baptist church met with Mrs. Jack Hern don on Tuesday evening. Mrs; Grady Ross, chairman, presided over the business session. Mrs. W. W. McCarter conducted the devo tional. Mrs. Charles Queen presented Mrs. Grady Ross, Mrs. Bobby Hambright and Mrs. Jack Hern don, who gave interesting parts on the program. There was one new member, Mrs. J. D. Bolin. Mrs. Herndon served chterry tarts with whipped cream and coffee! The Livingstone circle of the First Baptist church met at the home of Mrs. A. F. Collins. Mrs. Lucille Davis, chairman, presided over the bur.'nfess session. Mrs. J. B. Ellis contacted the devotional. Mrs. Clyde Rhea presented Mrs. John Gold, Mrs. Tyree Keeter and Miss Ethel Martin who took part on the program; Mrs. Collins served congtealed salad, sandwiches, cake and cof fee. The members of the First Bap tist church surprised the pastor The Reverend W. F. Monroe, with an "old fashion pounding" on Wednesday fevening before pray er meeting. The children mission hour was held at the Shlloh Presbyterian church on Monday afternoon. The Classes through the Juniors at tended. There wtere stories, hand work, singing and games from the mission fields. The Lottie Moon circle of the First Baptist church met at the home of Mrs. Thomas Wright on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Nina West moreland presided over the meet ing. She also conducted the devo tional. Mrs. Et. D. Moss and Mrs. Hood Watterson took part on the pro gram. There were three visitors, Mrs. W. F, Monroe, Mrs. H. L. Beam, a member of ' the Bostic clrcje, and Mrs. A. F. Collins, president of the W. M. S. Mrs. Wright served dellcicus refresh ments. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Westmore land entertained at a family re union on Sunday in honor of her brother, Bruce Roark, of Watson ville, California. Twenty - five membfers of the Roark family at tended. Those attending were as fol lows: Mrs. Annie Roark, Wilbur Roark, Charles Roark, Mr. and Mrs. William Roark and children, Nita and Billy, Mr. iand Mrs. Har ry Roark and Phil, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Houser, John Houser, and Faye Houser, Mr. and Mrs. Char les Houser, of Kings Mountain, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe P. Wilson and daughter, Barbara, of Shelby. Bruce Roark returned to his home in Watsonville, California on Tuesday after spending a few weeks here with his mother, Mrs. Annie Roark and other relatives. Hammett has just recently received his discharge from the army, after serving three years. He is now employed at Bessemer City.
