The Lions club met at the school cafeteria and were sferved a steak supper by the lunchroom staff on Monday evening. J. Faul ton Hodge of Rutherfordton, N? C., was guest speaker- for the oc casion. Mr. Hodge, International Farm Exchange delegate to Eng land in 1953, visited 16 families and lived in their homes. He also visited six other countries. The program was based on the belief that good will and better under standing is the basis for world peace. Mr. Hodge Is now a social work er for Cleveland County Welfare department. The Rev. and. Mrs. Howard Johnson and son, Cecil, have mov ed to near Rutherfordton wherte the Rev. Johnson has accepted pastorate of Montford Cove Bap tist church. February Arrest Totals Released The police department averag ed three arrests dally here In Feb ruary, Chief Hugh A. Logan re ported this week. The total num ber of arrests was 94, 11 less than in January. There were 26 arrests for pub lic drunkenness which, as usual, topped the list. Other arrests included speed ing, 13; shop-lifting, 8; and parti cipating in an affray, 6. Five arrests were made for writing worthless checks and five for illegal possession of whiskey. The following had four arrests each: assault, abandonment and non-support, and on capiases. Two arrests each were made on fugitive and investigation war rants. Ellis, who arrived on the pen insula last November, had been serving with the 45th Infantry Division, which is being return ed to the U. S. He is slated to finish his tour of Korean duty with the 3rd Division, now und ergoing training to maintain combat efficiency.
