Falls with Mrs. Ru - fus Fite as co-hostess. Mrs. Clyde Jolly was in charge of a devotional for the meeting.1 Mrs. Earl Ledford offered the opening prayter. During the business session, re ports were heard from the group captains and from Mrs. Grady Yelton, secretary . treasurer. Mrs. R. G. Whisnant, president, con ? ducted the business meteting. Games were directed during the social hour by Mrs. Clyde Murphy with prizes presented to Mrs. Led ford, Mrs. Robert Walker, and ] Mrs. Howard Ware. The hostesses passed ice cream i and cake with coffee. Fifteen class members attended the meet ing. Mrs. Jacob Cooper Bridge Club Hostess Members of the Ace of Clubs met last Thursday, March 18, at the home of Mrs. Jacob Cooper. Arrangements of jonquils and a zaleas were usfed throughout the home in decoration. During progressions, the hos tess served a dessert course with coffee. Mrs. Harold Hunnicutt won high in bridge for the after noon and Mrs. Fred Plonk re delved the second-high award. Guests Included Mrs. W. L. Ramseur, Mrs. T. L. Kesler, Mrs. W. L. Mauney, Mrs. Hunnicutt, Mrs. Plonk, and the hostess. Mrs. Buddy Huffman Complimented At Shower Mrs. Theodore Huffman and: Miss Nancy Huffman entertain ed at their "home Friday after noon paying compliment to Mrs. Buddy Huffman, a recent bride. Baptist WMU Association To Meet At Pleasant Ridge Annual metetlng of the Wo man's Missionary Union of the Kingg Mountain Baptist associa tion will be held at Pleasant Rid ge on April 9 at 10 o'clock a. m., according to announcement this week by Mrs. B. A. Harry of Gro ver, superintendent. Fundamentals of the WMU will be a feature of the program and special guests will include Mrs. C. Gordon Maddney, State WMU president, and. Mrs, Sam Mayo, of the Home Mission board. Mrs. Harry also announced that a pageant, "The Way of the Cross" will be presented at the Young People's Night program at Shelby First Baptist church on April 8 at 7:30 p. m. Mrs. Ben Hudson and daughter of Raleigh are visiting Mrs. Hud son's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Houser. Mr. and Mrs. George Breden of Augusta, Ga., spent the week end with Mrs. Breden's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gould Hamrlck. Kenneth Boyer of Decatur, Ga., was a guest In thte home of Rev. and Mrs. P. D. Patrick during the weekend. He came especially to preach at services at First Pres byterian and Dixon Presbyterian churches on Sunday. A/2C and Mrs. Ray Carroll of Dover, Delaware, have named their son, born March 21 at a hospital in Bainbridge, Md., Ed win Cleotus. Mrs. Carroll is the former Miss Gfertrude Farris. Mr. an^J Mrs. J. O. Plonk, Jr., and daughter, Anne Hunter, of La Fayette, Ga., visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Neisler and Mrs. J. O. Plonk here over the weekend. They re turned to their home in Georgia on Sunday. Artificial flowers for spring Church Synodtcal Worker Addressed Lutheran Group Mrs. Jacob L Lackey, Director of Children's Work in the Synod of North Carolina, was guest speaker at a covered dish supper at St. Matthews Lutheran church Friday evening. The suppor was sponsored by the Women of the Church, and all families of the church were in vited to attend. Mrs. Lackey discussed '"Hie New Children's Program of the United Luti.?ran Church." She showed illustrations to emphasize the different phases of children's work in the church for various j age groups. Dr. W. P. Gerberding introduc ed the speaker. Mrs. W. K. Mau ney, Sr., is president of the *7 o men of the Church. First Baptist YWA Group Held Meeting On March 18 Members of the YWA's of First Baptist church met Thursday, March 18 at the church. Miss Melba Tindall had charge of thte devotional for the meeting and Miss Joan Thomasson was in charge of a program. Alter the program, a short busi ness session was conducted and a social hour was enjoyed. Mrs. J. W. Watson, group leader, pass ed refreshments. Miss Norma Lee Slpes is presi dent of the organization. Wednesday Bridge Club Held Meeting In Gastonia Wednesday Afternoon Bridge club members met last week at the home of Mrs. Bill Leigh in Gastonia. Mrs. Leigh, the hostess, and Mrs. Paul Neisler won high and second high in bridge for the afternoon. Prior to bridge pro gressions, the hostess was assis ted in serving a salad and des sert plate. Arrangements of mixed spring flowers were used throughout the home. Mrs. Bill Todd of Gas tonia was a guest of the hostess. Couple's Bridge Club Held Meeting Friday Couple's Bridge club members met Friday evening at thte home of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Peeler. Prior to progressions, covers were laid and supper was served buffet style to Mr. and Mrs. Dan Finger, Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Suber, Jr.,. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Bridges, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Mauntey, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Anthony, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Fulton, Jr., Dr. and Mrs. J, C. McGill and the host couple. Mr. and Mrs. Fulton and Dr. and Mrs. McGill were guests of the club. Presbyterian Circle Hejd Business Meeting Circle No. I of Dixon Presby terian church met Sunday after noon at the church. The circle was scheduled to meet Saturday evening. Mrs. P. D. Patrick conducted the business meeting at 2:30. Announcement was made of the two-day meeting of Presbyterial in Mount Holly on Tuesday und Wednesday and delegates were appointed to represent the group at the meeting The meeting was opened by Mrs. Thomas Humphries, circle chairman. Forty Attended Dance At Country Club Saturday Mr. and Mrs Harry Page and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Thorburn were hosts at a Sub- Deb dance at Kings Mountain Country club Saturday evening. Fifth, sixth, seventh, and eigh th grade pupils, children of Country Club members, were guests and the party list num bered about 40. - Punch, cookies, -potato chips, sandwiches, and cake were ser ved.
