The game was postponed from last Friday by rain and was thfe only meeting of the two schools on the diamond this year. The Mountaineers had their worst day afield in the finale, con tributing 10 errors, and failed to hit in the clutches. Kings Mountain got eight hits. No. 2 at 9:30 Only Pony League Team Loses First Game The Kings Mountain Pony lea gue team, now without a sponsor, lost their first game of the year Tuesday at Bessemer City to drop out of a tie for first place in the American League. - v Playing with only nine players, the K,lngs Mountain club lost by a score of 8-0 as Bobby CBrlon, Bessemer City ace, limited the lo cals to four hits. V Keith Lay ton had a pair of sin gles, Buddy Connor a triple, and Bud BuMgardner a single for Kings Mountain. A drizzling rain throughout thte contest hampered Kings Moun tain's fire-ball righthander, Ran-' dy Cash, with the winners scor ing five runs on only two hits. Lay ton took over in the third and John McGlnnis came on in the fourth to finish the game. The recreatiou department is now supervising thte club and is looking for a sponsor for the team. Admission to all Pony league games is free and the public is urged to support the club. On Tuesday, the club is sche duled at Rex in Gastonia. The Kings Mountain team dropped out of a first place deadlock with ftex after suffering the first loss of the season Bessemer City on last Tuesday. The two clubs have not met this season, the first encounter going by the boards dtie to rain. The club roster includes Lay ton. who is 14 and is also listed Park Grace Nine Leads U Play Park-Grace, with stellar pitch ing, continues to dominate Kings Mountain Little League play. Jer ry (Mo) Wright threw a one-hit ter at Kiwanla in a 4-lnnlng affair Tuesday afternoon. Even without top pitching Park Grace would be hard to handle. The club also boasts the slugging est team in the league. In the last five games, Park Grace pushing looks like this: Bobby Biddlx has allowed 2 hits in three gamtes, one game was a no-hitter; Mo Wright has allowed 4 hits in two games; and Bobby Smith gave up 3 hits in one game. The Junior Chamber of Com merce voted to sponsor the friendship Birthday Calendar project this year at the regular meeting of the organization held at Masonic Hall Tuesday night. The project is similar to the Community Birthday Calendar sponsored for the past two years. After a discussion by Charles Dixon, Soap Box Derby chair man, the club authorized prizes for winners of the Kings Moun tain warm-up race.
