Members of the J Beaulah and Patterson Grove | clubs met with them and enjoy- ] ed a demonstration on "Christ- j mas Suggestions." ' The hostesses served coca-co las and fruit and cookies. A itound 60 were present. During the evening the clubs each had ? short business meeting.. Next ibonth they will have a Christmas Party. There will be preaching ser vices at El Bethel church Thurs day night at 7 o'clock. It will be a Thanksgiving Service. Because of this there will be no cottage prayer meeting this week. Thursday night of last week members of the MYF attended the SUb-district meeting at Lawndale. Pvt. William Mayes, of Camp Gordon, Ga., Is spending two weeks leave here with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. F, Mayes. An enormous crowd was pres ent Friday night at Bethware for the Fall Festival held there and sponsored by the Bethware P-TA organization. Each grade presented their own phase of some way to raise funds for the activity bus which will be bou ght A talent program was pre sented at 7:30 o'clock. A Christmas play is being planned for El Bethe! church by the MYF. They had their first practice Monday night. Butler Funeral services for Albert White Butler, 74. of Bessemer City, will ibe held Thursday aft [ernoon at 4 o'clock from First | Baptist church, Bessemer City. Rev. Fred Forrester, pastor of the church, assisted by Dr. J. (L. Vepperman, of Dallas, will con duct the rites. Interment will be in Bessemer City Men>ori a 1 cem etery. Mr. Butler, the son of the late Robert G. and Elizabeth Mercer Butler, Is survived by his wife, the former Miss Viola Jen kins. He died Monday at Presby terian hospital, Qharlotte, after a short illness. Mr. Butler was a member of First Baptist church, Bessemer City. He is the father of William Butler. Mrs. Ollie Brackett, Mrs. Ann Roberts, and Mrs. Eva Ran. kin, all of Kings Mountain Survivors other than his wife, son and daughters of Kings Mountain, are three sons, Floyd J. Butler, of Rutherfordton ; Avery A. Butler, of Bessemer City; and Tollle E. Butler, of Raleigh; three daughters, Mrs. Beulah De vine, of Dallas, Mrs. William Poteat ,of Shelby; and Mrs. Wil liam Hamrick, of Splndale; one brother, Samuel J, Butler, of Wilmington; three sisters, Mrs. Roberta Benton, and Mrs. M. P. Taylor, both of Wilmington, and Mrs. Leta Witley, of Portsmouth, Va.; 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
