C., ' were married Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the Boycte Memorial ; ARP church manse. Dr} W. L. Pw?3sly, pastor of the church, heard the couple ex change vows. The groom, a friend o t the PressJvs. has visited here a/number of times. The bride wore a brow!n wool suit With blue blouse and other ? accessories in brown and a top i coat of llama wool. She wore a White orchid at her slioulder. Mrs. Little, daughter of R. E. : Nimmons of Seneca and the late Mrs. Nlpimons, was graduated from Seneca high school and Me dical College of Virginia School ?J Nursing, Richmond. Va., and ?1ld graduate work at Margaret Hague Maternity hospital, Jer sey City, N. J., and Duke Univer l slty. She has been assistant dlrec ?, tor of nursing at Greenville Cen tral hospital for the past six ? years. ? Mr. Little, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hpnry W. Little of Wadesboro, was graduated from Wadesboro hifch school and Georgia School of Technology, Atjanta. Ga. He Is as sociated with Allen Brothers Mill ing Co., Greenwood, S. C., where the couple will bte at home after December 12. m Mrs. W. L Ramseur Bridge Club Hostess Members of the Fortnlghters Bridge club met Friday after noon at the home of Mrs. W. L Ramseur on Mountain street. Guests Invited to play with the regular club members were Mrs. Hugh A. 1/Ogan, Jr., Mrs. Jacob Mauney, Mrs. John L. McGill, and Bridge prizes went to Mrs. Mrs. Wright, of Ingold, who is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Ar nold Klser, and family. George llouser, who won high for club members, and to Mrs. Logan, who received the visitor's prize. Between progressions the hos tess served a salad plate with cookies and spiced tea. Couples Entertained Bridges Clubs Friday Mr. ahd Mrs. W. S. Fulton, Jr.. and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Anthony, Jr., entertained members of the Couple's Bridge -club and the Hl Lo Bridge club at the home of the iormfcr couple Friday even ing. Guests were Invited to play at four tables. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Howard were invited to play with the regular members. Prior to the bridge games, a hot-dog supper was enjoyed. PrLies in bridge went to Mrs. Grady Howard. Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Suber, Jr., and G. E. Bridges. Rayfields Entertained At Dinner On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Rayfleld were hosts Sunday at a birthday dinner honoring Mrs. J. J. Thorn burg and Mrs. Frank Hamrick, who were observing birthday an niversaries. A yellow cloth covered the din ing room table. A green and yel low birthday cakc was the table centerpiece. Attending the dinner, in addi tion to the host couple and the honorees, were Rev. J. J. Thorn burg, Mr. Hamrick and daughter, Anne, Mr. and Mrs, Arthur Lee Putnam ahd children, Jessie and Brenda, and Kenneth, Mickie, and | Judy Rayfield. Mrs. George Houser DAR Chapter Hostess Regular meeting of the Colo nel Frederick Hambright chapter, Daughters of the American Revo lution, was held last Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. George Houser. Mrs. C. D. Blanton, regent, led the group in the DAR ritual and presided over the business ses sion. Mrs. W. L. Mauney was in chargt? of the program. She dis cussed "Christmas In Colonial Times." j During the social hour, Mrs. Houser served a salad plate with I tea. Mrs. Cline Entertained At Dinner Party Sunday Mrs. Florence Cline and her son, Clyde Jenkins, entertained a group of friends and relatives at dinner Sunday at their home Miss Sarah Biddlx, daughter of . Mr. and Mrs. Frederick William Biddix, of Spruce Pine, and Clar encte Lee Earley, Jr., son of Mrs. Clarence Lee Earley, Sr., of Kings Mountain, and the late Mr. Ear ley, were married Saturday even ing, November 27, in Spruce Pine's First Presbyterian church. The Rev. Robert Hi Jordan, pas tor of the bride, and Rev. Augus tus R. Craig, pastor of Ruther fordton's First Presbyterian chur ch, were the officiating ministers. A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. John. F. Roth of Sprucb Pines, organist, and Miss Louise Hobson of Pied mont, S. C., and John F. Roth, soloists. Given in marriage by her fath? er, the bride wore a wedding! gown of imported lace over satin,, featuring a shirred basque bodice' with high round tulle yokte and draped off * shoulder fischu. Her fingertip - length veil of imported silk illusion was draped from a half - hat of lace and seed pearls. She carried a bouquet <?t step hanotis centered with white or chids and showered with white satin streamers. Miss Joyce Tucker, of Concord, a college roommate of the bride, lrodge Officers Honored Af Turkey Dinner Friday Boyce Gault, master of Fair view Lodge No. 339 AF and AM entertained officers of. the lodge at a turkey dinner last Friday night. Officers for the year ending, in addition to Mr. Gault, are Em met t Ross, senior warden, Jimmy Simpson, junior warden, T. A. C. William Richard Harper, of At lanta, Ga., was the groom's best man, and usher-groomsmen were Frederick William Biddlx, Jr., of Spruce Pine, the bride's brother,' William A. Farrington and Ed ward H. Smith, both of Kings Mountain, and Wood B. Rawles, of Shelby. . Immediately after the cere mony the bride's parents enter tained at a redeptlon at their home. Mrs. Earley was graduated Worn Harris high school, Spruce f?ine, and Queen's college, Char lotte, where she was a member of Phi Mu National Sorority. She holds the position of secretary at Spruce Pine Lumber Co. Mr. Earley attended Wofford college, Spartanburg, S. C., and Is directory advertising salesman for Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Co. Alter a wedding trip to Florida, the couple will make their home in Spruce Pine. Junior Woman's Club To Conduct Clothing Drive The Junior Woman's Club at its meeting Monday night at the Woman's club made plans for a clothing drive, received five new members into the cluib, and heard a Chrstmatf program. Persons Who wish to donate any ,used clothing to the drive may contact Mrs. A T. MoGinnis, Jr., at telephone Number 162-W, Mrs. F. A. McDanlel, Jr., at 464-R, Mrs. James Dover, at 1182-J, or any member of the club. Clothes will be picked up on December 16th and 17th, and the local iRed Cross chapter will distribute the clothes to Kings Mountain area needy families. Mrs. J. W. Web ster Is drive chairman. Members also heard a report from Mrs. D. W. Blanton, chair man of the Caswell Training School Project. She reported that the club had mailed 67 gift box es to the school. ? New members of the club, present for Monday night's meeting, were Mrs. Paul Hord, Mrs. James Dover, Miss Margaret Cole, Miss Mary Bess Plyler, and Mrs. Louis Sabettie. Visitors were Mrs. Paul Neisler, Jr., Mrs. J. T. McGlnnls, Jr., Mrs. John Ca veny, and Miss Elizabeth Stew art. Mrs. Charles Alexander was program chairman for th? meet ing, and she presented Mrs. F A.. McDanielr Jr., who gave the Christmas reading, "A Star Is Born," and Mrs. E. R. Goter, who sang several Christmas selec tions and led the group In sing-. Ing Istmas carols. Mrs. Goter was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. John Caveny. Mrs. W- R. Hudspeih, the pres ident, presided over the business session. Mrs. F. A. McDanlel, Jr., conducted an auction sale after the meeting was adjourned. Red tapers and holly, cedar, and pine starred with red, silver, and gold Christmas ornaments provided decoration for the re freshment table. Candles and ivy were used at each window In the dining room, and candies With greenery were used on the piano. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Clyde Jolly, Miss Margaret Harmon, Miss Frances Edens, and Miss Diana Gamhle. Deco rated sandwiches with fruit cake, potato chips, red Christmas stockings filled with candy, and Russian tea were served. Come to ALLEN'S for Christmas Flowers and deco rative aids.
