ton vote was 61 for and 23 again

Drought Hay
Arrived Here
Kings Mountain Cotton Oil
Company was a busy place last
week as 25 cars of hay were re
ceived for area farmers under
the semi-governmental drought
relief program.
Under the arrangement, the
dairy farmer has been able to
buy hay with three-fourths de
ductions on freight costs. The
railroads having been shipping
hay at half regular rates. In ad
dition, drought ? hurt farmers
have been able to secure oertlfl:
cates from their county agents on
which they can obtain an addi
tional one-fourth refund from the
federal government.
The hay received here, Law
rence D. Patrick, said, has been
I shipped from the Dakotas, Michi
gan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota,
and Kansas. Mr. Patrick said it is
possible the railroads will extend
their half-rate policy, which ex
pired Wednesday at midnight.
Kings Mountain Cotton Oil has
10 cars of hay due next week.

A Can" project to provide food
for needy families' Christmas
dinners..

citizens are asked to purchase
staple food Items and place them
in the baskets while they are do
ing their grocery shopping prior
to Christmas.
