Gardner-Webb Gives Final Plans For Convocation March 20-22 BOILING SPRINGS — Plans for play'ing host to thousands of guests are now being finalized at Gardner-Webb College where a thi-ee day convocation is set March 20-22. The ordering of 10,000 chairs, shuttling of buses to pick up motorists parked at same dis tance from the campus and pre parations for sound equipment are just some of the preparations being made by the Convocation Committees. Three nationally known speak- ers will highlight events which begin Saturday morning and last through Monday night. Governor Dan K. Moore, Rep. Julia Butler Hansen of Washing ton State and D. William Bros- nan, president of Southern Rail way System will be featured speakers. Others expected include 10th District Congressman Basil L. Whitener, Rev. Ben Fisher, exe cutive secretary on the Council of Christian Education of the N. C. State Baptist Convention; Dr. W. Perry Crouch, general sec retary - treasurer of the Baptist State Convention, a .500 - voice choir and a host of outstanding businessmen and ministei's of this area. The public is invited free of charge and without any need of tickets to all events except a 6 p. m. dinner meeting Saturday and a 7 p.m. dinner meeting Monday. Firemen extinguished three grass fires on Monday, one on Dilling Street, one on First Street, and one at the residence of W. L. Thornburg on the Shelby Road. Tuesday’s fires included one on Deal Street and two on McGin nis Street.
