She was the wife of .f, V'ernon Phillips. Sr., widely known civil engineer. She died about Bild p.m. Iasi Wednesday at her home follow ing illness of several years. Sirs. Phillips attended Filiza- heth college in Charlotte and taught athletics there for two years. Married to Mr. I’liillip.- Jime P'. they came to Gaff ney from Athens, Ga. in 192<l. She was an active memix'r of Gaffney First Baptist church and had served several times as president of the church's Women's Missionary Society. As one of the spon.sors of the Colonel Williams Chapter of the Cliiklicn ol tile American Revo lution.
