Thursday, August 19, 1965 Woman’s Democratic Club To Host 10th District Meeting ' ( if il« The Cleveland County Woman's Democratic Club be host for a 10th Con- wi gressional District meeting Sept. 8, and plans are well underway, Mrs. Warren Gamble, president of the organization said this week. Democratic women—and their husbands—are expect ed to attend from Cleve land, Avery, Burke, Cataw ba, Gaston, Mitchell and Rutherford Counties. The event, to be held at 6:30 p.m. at Shelby Elks Lodge, will feature a recep tion and dinner. Mrs. Dan K. Moore, North Carolina's First Lady, will be a special guest and featured speaker. The meeting will also mark an early observance of Democratic Women's Day, celebrated across the country in the fall. Three Kings Mountain women are on committees for the event. Mrs. Jack White and Mrs. Bob Cox are co-chair men of decorations and Mrs. F. A. McDaniel, Jr. is chairman of the menu committee. Mrs. Gamble is program chairman. for the party. Joseph Kevin Wheeler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wheeler, celebrated his first birthday Thursday at a family party at his home at 500 Katherine Avenue. Young Wheeler is grand son of Mrs. Essie Stepp of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Luby Wheeler, Sr. of Nor folk, Va. A decorated cake was topped with a candle and cut and served with ice cream and other refresh ments. Young Wheeler's matern al grandmother was present .w Miss Elizabeth Stewart &| Francene Thornburg, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. J. Thornburg of Winston Salem, celebrated her sev enth birthday Tuesday. Eleven guests were pres ent for party fun, and after the party the Thornburgs were hosts at a cookout with Rev. and Mrs. Wayne,. Ffaynes and family as'I guests. The Thornburg and Haynes families are former ly of Kings Mountain. || Francene's cake was dec- , ' orated with pink roses. The; % cake was served with fruit 11 punch, and homemade ice Editor Tammy Dee Cobb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Cobb, was three years old Friday and a par ty was held at her home on Phifer road. The decorated doll cake was centerpiece for the re freshment table. Ice cream was served with the cake, and balloons and candy were given as favors. Present for the party, in addition to her parents, were her grandmother, Mrs. Clyde McDaniel; Cathy and Lynn McDaniel, Debbie Ap pling, Frederick, Tonya and Rhonda Kay Kincaid, three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Kin caid of Bessemer City, was honored on her birthday at a party attended by 47 youngsters in the Odell Memorial Methodist church fellowship hall. Pink and red streamers and balloons decorated the hall. Guests were given pink and red hats with their names on them. They were entertained by a three-act puppet show given by Lynn Rhyne and Karol Kincaid, children's games and stories by Mrs. J. B. Simpson. Rhonda's pink birthday cake was decorated with danc ing ballerinas. Pink and red cakes, red punch, and ice cream were served. Door prizes were won by Kenny Rhyne and Jackie Blanton. Helping the hosts to serve were Rhonda Kay s aunts Martha Wells of Kings Mountain and Sara Kincaid of Bes semer City, Bobbl Kincaid, Mosie Todd, Nancy Rhyne and her uncle, Tonnie Ware of Kings Mountain.
