Eu gene Poston, president. Directed hy Mrs. Grace Lee R.N., the department begins its program under the sanction ol the N. C. Board of Nurses Regis tratioh and Nursing Education which recently extended provi sional accreditation for 1965-66. This means the department's planning, ob,ieclives, fac.alty and curriculum meet all state re quirements for quality nursing education but tliat one full year of operation is necessary hefort the board deteu.nines pcrmanettl accreditation Cleveland .Memorial Hospital of Shelby and Rutherford Hospi tal of Rutherfordton are cooper ating in offering this pro.gram. Appling Bites Held Tuesday Funeral services for George Ernest Appling of Spartanburg, -S. C. were held Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. from Hayes Baptist church. Thomas, 17, 316 West Ridge Street, was chargi-d with interfering with an officer. He was found innocent due to insuf ficient warrant. Russell Morris, ,33, 214 Walk er Street, was cliargcd witli as sault on a female. Mrs. Morris wa.s ta.xcd witli $.5 and court costs when she withdrew charges. ^ Mil(>s Brown, 30, 206 Carpenter Street, was charged with simple trespassing. Ho was found not guilty. Mack Lefevers, 41, 5 I’henix Drive, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He ap pealed a four-i.Tonth jail sen tence and bond was set at $300. Tommy L Wilson, 31, 415 Mor ris Street, was charged with as sault on a female. His wife didn't wish to prosecute. She was taxed with costs of court. William Carpenter, 34, 490 Baker Street, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He asked for a iuiw ’ trial and posftxl a $6 jury foe. James Q. Henry was charged with operating a motor vehicle without license, driving after li cense had been revoked, and possession of -non tax paid liquor. He was found not guilty on the first count. On the second count he was sentenced to 12 months. suspended on payment of $200 and court costs. On the third count he was sentenced to 30 days suspended on court costs. A capias was is sued for the prosecuting witness. Janice Hudson, 22, 217 Morris Street, was clinrged with five counts of worthless checks. She was sentenced to five months, suspended upon payment of couit c'st.s and amount of the checks. Site is being held in city jail until Saturday, after which she will be taken to prison to finish her term, unless the court fines and amount of the checks are paid, Judge Thomasson said. .Seven defendants were found guilty of public drunkenness and were gi\en 30 day suspended scnienees.
