He was A&T Sophomore Cadet of the Week last week, is vice president of the United Men’s Congress, student govern ment representative, and a mem ber of the freshman orientation council. At the turn of the century, there were throe banks. First National Bank, founded in 1900, merged with First Union National Bank of North Carolina in 1960. 'The State Banking Commission in mid-July approved application of First-Citizens permission to es- tabllsh a branch here. Community Day ic, "Laity’s Mission In World Af fairs”. Kings Mountain United Church- women are sponsoring the pro gram which will supply knitting kits and denim smocks for wom en and small chilrren of Chile and an offering to provide classes and educational materials for the women of Chile and leadership in the fields of sanitation, health and how to use the materials sent them. Born in Richmond, Va.. the son of a Baptist minister, Mr. Train- ham is a graduate of the Uni versity of Richmond and Union Theological Seminary. He has held pastorates in Smithfield. Va., and Richmond, in addition to student pastorates. He has taught denominational assem blies, local and state clinics and has served as guest lecturer for family life institutes, hospital nursing students, ministers, doc tors and is known for pioneer work in Pastoral Care especially in Virginia and the Carolinas. He developed a church centered counseling center which served troubled people in a 100 mile ra dium of Charlotte. He is past chairman of the family life committee of the N. C. Council of Churches. Thanksgiv ing. Mrs. Pollack traced the his torical background of the nation al holiday, gave readings from "Ideals”, and discussed the holi day practices of several families, Including the Joseph Kennedy gatherings at Hyanisport, Mass. Guests, other than club mem bers, included Mrs E. C. Cooper, the hostess’ mother. Following the program, pre sided over by the president, Mrs. N. F. McGill, Jr., the hostess was assisted in serving lefreshments.
