Monday around 9 p.m.
Miller was driving a 1961
Dodge Am-:ulance owned by the
Grover Rescue Squad and was
on his way to the Kings Moun
tain Hospital when the accident
occurred.
Miller told investigating offi
cers Joe Harmon and William
Roper that he was about 50 or
75 feet from the light when it
changed to red and that he
could not get stopped in time to
avoid hitting a 1955 model Ford
driven by Ronny Roberts, 19, of
the Midpines community.
Roberts was attempting to
make a left turn from East Gold
onto South Battleground when
1 the Rescue Squad vehicle struck
! the front end of the car, eareen-
ied off it. went across the rail-
! road tracks, knocked down a
slop sign at the intersection of

Kings Mountain ministers will
continue their bell-ringing on
downtown streets this weekend
and next and were urging that
citizens contribute not only mon
ies for staple items for the
needy but used toys and warm
clothing.
Rev. Clyde R. Goodson, project
chairman and minister of East
Gold Street Wesleyan Methodist
church, called attention to the
fact there are many needy causes
which the Empty Stocking Fund
1965 will support. He cited the
plight of an underprivileged
couple who need food, clothes,
furniture and work for the fa
ther. The mother will be hospi
talized soon for the birth of
a child.
Persons who wish to contri
bute clothes or toys should de
liver them to Junior Moore at
Piedmont Barber Shop who is
chairman of that phase of the
project. Pick-up service is also
available by telephoning 739-
3215.

citizens to notify the minister
nearest them if they are in spe
