C. — Area high ehool senior boys and girls are ompetlng for the Pittsburgh late Glass Foundatbn commun- ;y scholarship being offered for he fourth straight year, accord- ng to J. V. Schweppe, Founda- ion Agent and local plant man ger for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. The competition is open to only hose students who have taken he National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and filed their .^PG Foundation applications last spring, and will be graduating Jrom designated area high ichools or who are children pf umployees graduating from sec ondary schools elsewhere in 1966. Test results are evaluated by the Ntitional Merit Scholarship Corporation to determine final ists from which the 1966 winne: will be selected by the PPG Foundation Scholarship Commit tee of prominent university edii- :ators. Finalists will be inter viewed next February and the winner selected on the basis of Davis Assigned To Police Battalion U.S. ARMY. EUROPE (AHTN C)—Army Pvt. Ernest S. Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Da vis, Route 1, Grover, N. C., was assigned to the 385th Military Police Battalion in Grerniany Dec. 9. Davis is a military policemar in the battalion near Komwest heim. He entered the An.Tiy last July and completed basic train Ing at Fort Gordon, Ga. The 21-year-old soldier was graduated fro.n Blacksburg Higl School in 1962 and attended Ben ca (Ky.) High School. Before en tering the Army he was employ ed by llover Textile Company Shelby, N. C.~ lest scores, scholastic record, school recommendations, motiva tion, leadership, citizenship, and general character. Now that we have our new school completed, I feel -Kings Mountain deserves a new stadi- u.m even if we have to . wait a few years.
