C. -Tne Showing ’Thanderball": James Bond Film "Thunderball”, starring Sean Connery as James Bond, opened Wedne^ay at Shelby’^ Sk^Vne Drive-In 'ITiefltrp for the t first Drive-In Theatre for the^ first showing in this area. _ The film, acclaimed as “trie biggest Bond of all” is the latest Agent 007 screen adventure thriller and the most ambitious and lavishly mounted of all the Bond films presented by Albert R, Broccoli and Harry Saltzman for United Artists release. In Panavlsion and Technicolor, “Thunderball” features Claudine Auger, Adolfo Celi and Lucia na Paluzzi. It was directed by Ter ence Young who also directed ‘TV1. No” and “From Russia With Love”, the first two films in this series. Principle photography cegan at Pinewood Studios in England, after which the 82-man British production unit flew to N'as.-au where extensive filming was done in and around the lu.\ury hotels and beach clubs of the Ba hamas and the colorful outdoor settings of the Out Islands. A great deal of the action (includ ing a love scene!) takes place un derwater. For these suumerged sets, and those above the sea, production designer Ken Adam was given a blank check to ere ate the kind of fantastic props the Bond films are noted for.
