Gamble has been pre sented to the schools as gift of the 1966 Kings Mountain high jichool graduating class. The plaqub will be placed in the new Gamble stadium. Check for $300 was presented by class spokesman Larry Mor gan to Schools Supt. B. N. Barnes at graduation exfercises Friday night. “I know of no more fitting gift your class can make”, said Mr. Barnes in accepting the gift. A recent Broadway success,‘‘The Owl and the Pussycat”, is a spi cy naughty delight that brings the star of the popular TV series “Peter Gunn” to the Ovens Au ditorium stage. Appearing oppo site Mr. Stevens will be movie actress Kathie Browne, who will bb coming to Charlotte directly from Hollywood. Following Craig Stevens will be the versatile TV and radio personality Durward Kirby in the hilarious comedy “The Im possible Years” which will opbn Tuesday, June 28. The Charlotte Suthmer Theatre is-indeed fortu nate to land this show since it is still ibeing enjoyed by Broad way audiences. Opening July 5 is ‘"The Boy Friend” which will feature well-known Marion Mar- lowte, a welcome "addition to the Charlotte Summer Theatre’s list of attractions. Carolinians will certainly be excited about the following three shows, “West Side Story”, “How To Succeed In Business Without Really 'Trying”, and “Annie Get Your Gun”. Anna Maria Alber- ghetti will star as Maria in “West Side Story” — a perfect match. With this appealing show, iLeonard Bernstein has giv en the world such hit songs as “Maria”, “Tonight”, “I Feel Pretty”, and “Sombwhere”. This will be one of the highlights of the season and will run from July 12 to July 17. Orson Bean, one of America’s favorite comics, provides a change of pasfe with the hilarious spoof of big business, “How To Succeed in Business Without Realiy Trying”, scheduled for July 19 to July 24 The lively la dy of musical comedy, Dolores Gray, will bb the straight-shoot er in the ever popular “Annie Get Your Gun”. July 26 to July 31 are the playing dates of this Irving Berlin show. Perky Janis Paige adds glam our to thb summer productions in yet another tremendous at traction “Call Me Madam”, which will open August 2. This is the delightful story of the ex- perienebs of a lady ambassador in Luxembourg—another Irving Berlin hit. Produced Stanley Waren is proud to announce that Carolina’s Betty Johnson will be featurbd at the Charlotte Sum mer Theatre for the fourth con,- secutive season. The vehicle Miss Johnson has chosen is “Briga- doon”. Joining hbr in this produc tion is Ken Cantril who has play ed opposite Miss Johnson in “South Pacific”, ‘The Sound of MiusicT and “The King and I”. “Brigadoon’s” playing dates are August 9 to August 14. Earl Wrightson and Lois Hunt who were so popular in “Came- lot”, last summer are back in 1966 with the tuneful “Kiss Me Kate” from August 16 to August 21.
