NEW USE
FOR OLD TABLE LEGS
“Imagination, plus patience
and nimble fingers can do some
very Creative things,” reminds
Mrs. Martha B. Thompson, home
economics extension agent, Da
vidson County. She backs up her
statement wit h this story.
Mrs. T. S. Payne of the Reeds
Community spotted several dis
carded table legs and wanted to
! make something from them.
Usiny the table legs, plus scraps
of plywood, a hammer and a
saw, she created an attractive
corner what-not, similar to .one
she had had custom-made.
Mrs. Payne antiqued her crea
tion and the result was an at-
traijtive plant or what-not shelf
for her paneled family room.
The object cost less than fifty
cents to build, the homemaker
figures.

OLD-FASHIONED BONNET
During the cold winter months,
Mrs. Jasper Breeze, Hurdle
Mills, Rt. 1 developed a hobby-
making a modern version of the
old-fashioned bonnet.
According to Mrs. Bonnie B.
Davis, home economics extension
agent, Orange County, Mrs.
Breeze made a bonnet for her
self, with a gardening dress to
match. The hobby has turned
out to be a money making enter

Mrs. Breeze has sold more
than $100 worth of bonnets al
ready. She says, “I always car
ry a half dozen in my car when
I go to meetings or on trips.
Many people adn^ire them and I
am able to sell thami one right
