The Shelby race will start at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday and is ex pected to draw the usual large and competitive field from the three tracks Dedmon operates in this area. Roger Ware collected the big prize last week here when he outdistanced Don Beam in the 75-lap feature. It was Ware’s first major win of the season here and he is sure to return Sat urday for the crack at the big- ijer prize. Waco’s Roger Stroup captured the rookie feature in his 1950 Hudson. Ware drove a 1955 Chevrolet to victory. Letter To Editor Dear Editor: I want this town to know how well they cleaned up my place. They really cleaned ime up and out, tore down my grape vines in back, cut down two clumps of fig bushes, four damson trees, one large open stone peach tree full of fruit, about four smaller ones. I had a little patch of blackberry bushes that furnish ed me berries for some pies in berry time, I have two pear trees and a peach tree in the backyard, but the peaches are no good. Mrs. E. L. Campbell Tennis Tournament Begins July 11 The city singles tennis tourna ment will begin Monday, July 11, and City Recreation Director EU- mer “Mag” Ross said today that anyone interested in participat ing in the tourney should sign up at the Deal Street Swimming Pool as soon as possible.
