formal gown was a sheath of
white pcau do sole designed with
an empire bodice, bateau neck
line and long, tapered sleeves.
Pearl studded appliques enhanc
ed the empire bodice. A full,
Watteau train fell to floor-length.
Her waist-length mantilla w’as
accented with wide bands of
Alencon lace and she carried a
bouquet of gardenias and ste-
phanotis.
Mrs. Dennis Newton of Gra
ham, Texas attended the bride as
matron of honor, and Miss Jaque
Wright of Ro'rstowm, Texas was
bridesmaid. Candace Stilwell of
Dallas, cousin of the bride, was
junior attendant.
The adult atendants wore eim-
pire-style floor length yellow
crepe gowns with bateau neck
lines and long, tapered sleeves.
Moss green velvet ribbon high
lighted the empire bodices and
culminated in a bow and ribbon
streamers to the floor in back.
Their headdresses were oabbaige
roses dropped with short tiered
ed in powder 'blue silk, the greets
length dress featuring a str^ht,
eased skirt and elbow sleeves %c-
centcd by wide embroidered or
ganza bands. She wore a small
blue organza hat with short back
veil attached, iT'atriilng slippers
and a white orchid shoulder cor
sage.
YELLOW AND GREEN
The wedding theme of yellow
and green was beautifully car
ried out in the reception held
after the ceremony. The bride’s
table was overlaid with pale yel
low net over white satin, the
cloth softly pleated at the tables’
edge An arrangement of yellow
carnations and greenery was .it
one end of the table. The tiered
white cake was topped with yel
low roses and was cut from the

guests and Miss Miller's place was marked by a corsage of
pink sweetheart roses.
The bride-elect wore an aqua party dress. She was re
membered with a crystal cake plate and silver server from
the hostesses.

Sunday night at their home in Gastonia honoring Mr. and
Mrs. Wendell Phifer, Jr., who were married June 18 In Den
ver, Colorado. The bride is the former Charlene McNall of
Denver.
The taible, overlaid with white Italian cut-linen, was
centered by ® miniature bridal pair. On opposite sides were
crystal cen<W«b^um set with white tapers arranged with
white summer flowers and greenery. An arrangement of
green and white chrysanthemums was on the buffet and cut
flowers were used in other rooms of the home.

The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a formal-
gown of Alencon lace and silk
organza ov'er taffeta. The con
tour button-back bodice featured
a bateau neckline embellished
with seed pearls, and long taper
ed sleeves. Scalloped lace accent
ed the hemline of the dome-shap
ed skirt and full chapel train.
Her bouffant veil of imported
silk illusion was held in place by
a matching pillbox, trimmed
with Alencon lace motifs and
seed pearls. Completing her at
tire were cultured pearl earrings,
gift of th bridegroom, and white
peau de sole slippers. She car
ried a white Bible, gift from her
mother, with a bouquet of wed
ding roses, lily of the valley, and
two white yclloW-throated or
chids with satin streamers tied
in lover’s knots.
Mrs. Andrew Holt was her
cousin’s matron of honor. A
sorority sister at Lenoir Rhyne
college Miss Betty Gilroy of
Baltimore, Md., was maid of
honor. Bridesmaids were Miss
Jaunene Phelps and Miss Janice
Sloop, both of Kannapolis, Miss
Nancy Sporer of Hickory and
Mi^s Elaine Moretz of Belmont,
both sorority sisters of the bride.
Junior attendants were Miss

j All the attendants wore long
dresses of aqua shantastik silk
and crepe 'fashioned along em
pire lines with elbow - length
sleeves and scooped necklines
from which panels flowed at
the back to the hemlines of their
crepe skirts. They wore match
ing headdresses and oarried cas
cades .of yellow daisies centered
with two cymbidiiirris'tied with
yellow ribbon. Smaller daisy bou
quets were carried by the junior
attendants. Petals lof white roses
and daisies filled the white bas
ket carried by the flower girl.
TTie white shortie gloves and
necklaces they wore were gifts
of the bride.
Gerald Webster of Beaufort,
S C. was his nephew’s best man.
Ushering were a cousin of the
bride, John Albert Cloer of
Statesville, and Thomas Spencer
Nelson III and Carl David Low
ery, both of Kannapolis, and
Stev’en Foster Pow^l and Roger
Dean Powell, both of Shelby.
Terry Cloer of Statesville,
cousin of the bride, was ring-
bearer. Acolytes wore Lowell
Lovin and James Simmons.
Miss Norma Jean Sloop was at
the register. Directing the wed
ding was Mrs. Roy Bennett.
The bride’s mother was gown
ed in Princess pink with match
ing hat and accessories. She wore
a white orchid cor.saige and car
ried a white lace handkerchief,
gift of her daughter.
White carnation corsages were
worn by Mrs. Guy Ketner and
Mrs. E. L. Karriker, grandmoth
ers of the bride, and Mrs. Rena
Dellinger, grandmother of the
bridegroom, with their su.Tiimer
ensembles.
RECEPTION
A reception was held after the
ceremony In the church social
hall. A green and white color
scheme was carried cut in the
tiered wedding cake, other bridal
delicacies and decorations.

graduated May 30 from Lenoir
Rhyne college with a double ma
jor-primary education and Eng
lish. She received her A.B de
gree While at Lenoir Rliyne,
Mrs. Webster served as ma,ior-
ette for three years and as chief
majorette her junior ye.tr. She
was a professor’s assKstant,
member of the A Cappella col
lege choir, the band, the Hacawa
staff, sister of Epsilon chapter
of Sigma Kapoa sorority and
member of A. C. E. and N E. A.
She will teach first grade this
fall at Sabal Elementary school
in Eau Gallle, Fla.
Mr. Webster is a 1960 graduate
of Kings Mountain high school,
has completed four years service
duty and is enrollde in Brevard
Colioge of Engineering at Mel
bourne, Fla. He is employed at
Radiation Incorporation, Palm
Bay, Fla. During his tour lof
USAF duty, he was chosen “air
man of the month” in his divi
sion.
