An Open Letter To
The Citizens 01
Cleveland County
WILLIAM ORR
My Fellow Citizens,
Once again it has become painfully obvious that too many people
in high places of local government are more concerned with their own
little sections of the county than they are with the progress of the entire
county.
It is this type of thinking that must be replaced by a broad outlook,
a concern for the entire county. Certainly, no area of the county ought
to go without representation on the Board of Commissioners.
Cleveland County needs some forward-looking men to help guide
its destinies. It needs men of vision, not footdraggers. It needs men who
are able to see the problems that are going to confront this county 25
years from now. men who are able to help begin solving those problems
now instead o! becoming part of the problem themselves.
Our county has not made the progress it might have made. The
reason, primarily, is that the people have not been informed. When a
citizenry is informed about the problems, truthfully and honestly, it
usually reacts with an astounding degree of intelligence. We cite recent
elections involving literally millions of dollars.
My Fellow Citizens 1 Propose The Following:
• A Better System For Garbage
Disposal
• More Help To Cleveland County
Volunteer Fire Departments.
• More Citizen Participation In
County Government.
• Welfare Branch Offices.
My Fellow Citizens It Is Time
We Move Forward With Progress.
On Saturday, May 4, Vote For A Change.
I Will Appreciate Your Vote On May 4th.
• Open Door Meetings.
• Supplementary Pay For Coun
ty District Teachers.
• County-Wide Recreation Pro
gram.
More Industry.
