Best Source Of Vitamins Is Food IlALKI(;il The most reason able source of vilainins is food, not pills or Ollier types of sup plements, says Airs. .Marjorie Doiiiielly, e.vlension nutrition speeialisi, Xorih Carolina State University. A diet selected fi'om a variety of food.s suiiplies all the nutrients a per.son normally needs, she notes. Unless prescribed by a physi cian, vitamin supplements aren't usually neces.sary and are a needless exp<'nsc“. The exception might he during pregnancy or nursing when a physician may wish to supiilement the mother’s diet with iiKtra vitamins and minerals. A physician might also suggest a vitamin C and D supplement for a nursing Infant. However, infants on cbrnmerdal formulas or formulas based on whole cow's milk should receive adeiiuate a- mounts of vitamin D, .Mrs. Don nelly adds. The body won’t store many vi tamins. It uses only the nutrients it needs and the excess is wasted.. However, vitamins A and D are stoned in the body. Therefore, high potency vitamin supple ments, containing large amounts of A and D may actually be harmful, csperdally when given to children. Why are vitamin and mineral supplements so widely promoted? .Some persons are more apt to' believe that their malnutrition is' du^^ to depleted soil or improper! food processing than to their' lauity diets. These are not facts, but falla-l cies. The American food supply is unsurpassed in volume, variety and nutritional value, notes Mrs. Donnelly. In fact, most Ameri-: cans can he well-nourished if they give a little thought or plan ning to wise food selection, she points out. I Many foods, such as milk, flour, margarine, most ready-to-| eat cold cereals and infant for mulas are enriched to supply ad-! siiirolements. For much less mon-i ey you can get all the nutrients, you noisn: mon food: rially need from the com-; ds in yoiif dally diet. niH 1970 popul be made largely ing to the ccnsui will be sent to out and reti door-to-door cal| gather the ilai calls will still ion tensus will, mail, accord-1 bureau. Lawyers frequently Insist upon three, because there are a number of stales which require this number of witnesses and the lawyers want tlioir clients to leave wills that will be valid in ail states. A will ext'outed in Nortb Caro lina may need to meet the formal requirements of another'' state eifh»v because it affects real es tate Iccated there or because the testator changes his domicile aft er the will is ddrawn and dies in another state ^ithout having e.xecuted a nww wll. Must the - attesting witnesses read tile will or know Jts con tents? -No. Must the testator sign his name in the presence of tlje attesting witnesses'?' ■ , No. In -North Carolina it is not nocessary that the- testator sign his will in the presence of tlie atlesling witnesses, but if he does not Ho .so. he’must acknowledge lo them his signature previously : affixed thereto. -Must the attesting witnesses sign afler the testator has sign al,? Yes. Tiiere must be a signature. I to attest before there can be an I alte.station. Until the testator has ; sf^ned, there is no will to attest. W. S. BIDDIX Telephone 739-6532 NOW . . . I MRlNMItt eOMPANV VC CMust the attesting witnesses sign the will in tlie presence of (lie testator? Yes. Tile testator must actually see or be in a position to see nol only the attesting witness but also the will itself at the time the witness signs it. Tlie testator is not nxiuired to look at the udlness, but his view must not be obstructed. Must the attesting witness be an adult? No. Althougli a person less than twenty-one years of age cannot make a valid will on his . I own, he may be attesting witness 1 to the will of one who is an a- dult. . In North Carolina a person oontiietcnt to he a witness gen erally in this -State may act as a ivitness to a will. I.s a boneflciary' under the terms of a will a ctmipctent at testing witness? Yes. But competent lawyers never allow a beneficidry under a will to act as an attesting wit ness. Tlierc is a mighty good legal reason for this. If there are not at least two other witnesses to the will who xrc disinterested, the interested witness and his sixiuse and any one claiming under him takes nothln.g under the will, and so far only as their interests are concerned the will is void. The important thing to remem ber is that if cither you or your I spouse is .given anything under a 1 will, don't cither of you heuome an attesting witne.ss to the will! . It either of you do, neither will ! gel anything under the terms of the will. od fa Bii Ki Si l'"'' 'of Tl or (Ir , Scientists agree all fish have 1 a sense of smell, but some are ] more sensitive to odors than oth ers. 1 <-■' ' h: Hunters in Hawaii seek wild boar as a major sport.
