clusters. She carried a white Bi
ble topped with an orchid sur
rounded with a cascade of mums
and carnations.
Miss Elaine Wells attended the
hiide as maid of honor and
bridesmaids were Miss Ruhy
Jones and Miss Wanda WrUght.
Donna Blanton, niece of the bride,
was flower girl.
All tile attendants wore floor-
length gowns of peau dc soie, tite
maid’s gown in pink and the oth
er attendants in red satin. The
fln‘sses were fashioned along em-
pin» lines with inverted back
pleats and bows and stand-up
collars. They wore matching
headdresses and dycd-to-match
satin slii)pors. The m.aUl of honor
carried a nosegay of pink, red
and white mums and carnations.

Mrs. Arthur B. Hanell, the na
tional president of the American
Legion Auxiliary, was breakfast
ing with Mrs. Oiangrel Jollev
and rae-Sunday morning, li^st day
of the annual spring conference
t-he Legion Auxiliary in F'ay-
ctleville.
Estella Hanell, iwho was guest
of the Auxiliary, says she likes
people, the color red, and wide-
brimmed hats. She sa.vs she wants
to visit every auxiliary mil of-the
nation's 903,(K)'J members and all
the veteran’s hospitals during
her term of d.fice this year. Her
plane was to leave i?unday after
noon for her home in Indianap
olis. Indiana. She cancelled her
reservations until Monday so she
could visit the VA hospital at
Fayetteville Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Hanell paid her first visit
to North Carolina last weekend.
She said she liked Southern hos
pitality, hoped to visit this state
again.
She enjoys traveling, alwaxs
oixlers lemon in hot water as a
breakfast drink. "It’s good for
complexion” she said.
She likcs the big city life but
occasionally would like to travel
incognito, if only to the grocery-
store.
She wes wearing a red suit
with fur-trimmed collar and a
wide-brimmed red hat. "My guest
room is full of red suits and
hats", she said. "Sometimes I,get
in such a hurry I pack the wrong
suitskirt. I have so many reds in
my wardrobe.”
Mrs. Hanell was elected to this
high office at the 198S National
Convention in New Orleans.. Lou
isiana, and will servo through
the 1969 National Convention in
Atlanta. Georgia, next August.
She will meet with slate or
ganizations throughout the year
as well as fulfill administrative*
duties at the National Headeiuar-
ters in Indianapolis and Wash
ington, D. C.
Active in the American Lotion
Auxiliary for more than, tliirty
years, she was presented a Gold
Life Membership Card by Com
munity Unit No. 46 of Culver
City for “her outstanding serv
ice.”
Mrs. Hanell has held many of
fices including that of Unit Pre.si-
denf. District President, and De
partment (slate) President. Serv
ice in the chairmanships of many
major national committees fol-
loxved and led to her un-opposed
election to the office of National
President.
Mrs. Hanell is a native daugh
ter of tlie Golden West. She was
horn in Los Angeles where sh.e
attended L. A. City College,
W(HMlburv college and the Uni
versity' of Southern California.
She has been active in Civic
club and patriotic endeavors and
has held important office's in
many organizations. She also has
a background of many years of
business experience.
She is a member of the Ameri
can Institute of Parliamentarians
and a Certified Parliamentarian;
