ihuriMy, Nebruary E, 1970 Winn-Dixie Food Sales Are Up Total sales at Winn-Dixie food stores were up 13.91 p(»reent dur ing the 28 weeks ended Jan. 10 compared with the like period Inst year. They amounted to $738,012,849 against $647,901,432, a gain of $90,111,417. Earnings after taxes were $12,714,155 compared with $12,940,566, representing a per centage to sales of 1.72 percent I against 2.00 percent. I Per common share earnings- were 98c compared with $1.01,' with the current year earnings ' computed on a btisis which a.s- | sumes an increase of 9 percent! in Class B shares outstanding to provide for maximum possible I conversion within one year from' Jan. 10. 1970. Prior year earnings per share have been restated with tin* com putation based on a 4*2 percent increase in the number of Cla.s.s B shares to provide for maximum possible conversion within one year from Jan. 11, 1969. Shares outstanding are 8,084.- 045 common and 4,496.8.59 Class B cormmon, compared with 8.020,- 292 common and 4,523,075 Cla.4 B common a year ago. Stores now' in operation total 801 against 775. Nineteen new stores were open ed and 12 closed during the 28 weeks. In mid-January, 51 now stores were being devekiped ancl 31 of these ar(^ scheduled to open by the end of the current fl.scal year.
