(Continued From Page One) l.ocal Girl Scouts flocked to Camp Rotary this past weekend, for a neighborhood camporee. Troops participating came from Kings Mountain, Bessemer City •and Grover. Camporee director was Mrs. Raymond Holmes. A total of 184 girls and leaders participated in the event. Eignt troops (126 girls and leaders) spent the night on Saturday and four Brownie troops (58 girls and leaders) came to spend the day on Saturday. The program open- t\\ at noon Saturday with a flag ecroinony follow<?d by ilunch. In the afternoon g rls chose to cliTn)> wders Mountain or make belts. After cooking s^'ippor oiu-of.doors there was a Ctcunptire program of singing and a flag ceremony before the Brownies iwent home. A Scouts Own was pix?- sented by membere of Senior Troop 200 — Susan Goforth, Aim Baird, Jane Talbert, Betsy Queen and Hetty Cox. Following this, Mrs. Charles Blanton, Camp Ro tary Director, gave a program on camping and showed the girls the film of iGolden Valley which was recently teleodsed. Following more singlmg, the troop leaders prepaied a hot dog lunch and af terwards girls departed for home at 2 p.m. Neighborhood Girl Scouts are now seeking adult volunteers to help lead troops in the fall to re place leaders wlio moved away and also to enable new troops to be started. The neighborhood currently has 24 active troops Scouts.
