JIM BROYHILL HAS THE BACKGROUND Jim Broyhill has been on outstanding leader of his community and his State. Born in Lenoir, North Carolino, in 1927, he is the son of Satie and Edgar Broyhill. From an early age, he was influenced by his family with a sense of obligation for service to people. Jim was educated in the Lenoir Public Schools and at the University of North Carolina. He is married to the former Louise Robbins of Durham ond resides in Lenoir. The Broyhills are members of the First Baptist Church. Formerly vice-president of the Broyhill Furniture Industries, he has also served as President and Member of the Board of Directors of the Lenoir Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he has served as an officer in many civic and fund-raising projects for community and area betterment. He was chairman of the Industrial Development Committee of the Northwest North Carolina Development Association working to bring new industries into western North Carolino. Later, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Forestry Association (general conservation) and a Director of the Furniture, Plywood and Veneer Council. Jim Broyhill wos the recipient of the Jaycee "Young Man of the Year" aword in 1957 in recognition of distinguished service to Lenoir ond Coldwell County. A i.
