Holiday House Thursday; Gold Star Event Set

The Shelby Junior Charity League’s eighth an
nual "Holiday House" is scheduled for Thursday, Nov
ember 9, at the Elks Club, East Marion street, Shelby.
Hours will be from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Work shops being manned by league members are
turning out a variety of unique gift Items, Including tole
wine buckets, children s Christmas pinafores, smocks,
hand-painted ornaments, home-baked goodies, green
ery and centerpieces, crewel, original art pieces and
house plants. Especially designed for sale are bridge
tallies and score pads sketched with a picture of the
Cleveland County Courthouse.
Tickets are being sold for $1.00 and may be pur
chased from league members or at the door. Refresh
ments will be served. I y
Proceeds fr^m the Holiday House will be used
for the league's many year-round charitable projects.

Members of the American Legion Auxiliary will
hold their regular meeting Thursday (tonight) at 7:30
at the American Legion building.
Mrs. O. 0. Walker is program chairman for the
meeting and hostesses will be Mrs. Hubert Aderholdt,
Mrs. Paul Mauney and Mrs. Ida Long.
Howard Bryant, school administrator and former
North school principal, will be the speaker and will dis
cuss the upcoming school bond issue.
Members will make plans for the annual Cleveland
County Gold Star Mothers luncheon to be held at
Hotel Charles in Shelby on November 12th. Co-chair--
men of the event from Unit 155 are Mrs. Orangrel
Jolly, Mrs. Ruth Gamble and Mrs. Robert Ruff.
