MR. AND MRS. L. W. PAINTER : CELEBRATED GOLDEN WEDDING DAY - Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Painter celebrated their SOth wedding anniversary on a 10-day trip to Hawaii, visiting Honolulu and four other Islands. The Kings Mountain couple was surprised on the United Airlines fllgt>t to Hawaii with a cake, champagne and flowers. The Painters took a cruise to Pearl Harbor and enjoyed a luau and sightseeing tours. Mr. and Mrs. Travis Hawkins of Kings Moun tain announce the arrival of a son, Christopher Travis Hawkins, July 0, Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia. The baby weighed elg^t pounds, 12 ounces. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brad ley of Kings Mountain are parents of the bride who Is a 1976 graduate of Ap palachian State University where she srecelved her B. S. In Elementary Education. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley SturgU of ' Sparta, N. C., holds a B. S. In Business Adminis tration from Western Carolina University and a M. A. In Management and Marketing from Ap palachian State Univer sity. He Is employed as Assistant Manager of United Manufacturing Oo. Ea^GAGED — Mr. and Mrs. James L. Boyd, Sr. of Kings Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter, Marlene, to Johnnie Hogue, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Hogue, Sr. of Grover. The bride-to-be Is a rising senior at Johnson C. Smith University In CSiarlotte. The prospective bridegroom is a 1971 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and Is serving with the U. S.
