KMHS won, S-t. lance ly 110 lerloa WNCHSAA Dissolves ’The Western North Carolina High Schools Activities Association, of which Kings Mountain High School Is a charter member, dissolved at a meeting Monday In Moores vllle. ’The meeting was called to consider a realignment of teams within the association, but before that proposal could come to a vote, members voted to dissolve and apply for membership In the larger North Carolina High School Athletic Associa tion. The move will mean one association for all high schools In the state, therefore providing the opportunity to crown true state champions in every sport. The WNCHSAA was formed In 1939 and In cludes four conferences — the Southwestern, of which KMHS Is a member; the Northwestern, South Pied mont and North Piedmont. The association currently has 88 members. ’The dlssolvement of the association will take effect at the end of the current school year. The victory gives Coach Kathy Brooks’ Moun- talnettes a 4-4 SWC record heading into season-ending road games against Bums and South Point. KMHS held a 8-1 lead going Into the seventh. With two away, R-S Cen tral gained life on an error. A triple enabled the visi tors to cut the margin to 8-2 but KM won the game when the three-base hitter tried to stretch her hit Into an Inside the park home run. Teresa Blalock went the distance on the mound for KMHS, hurling a three- hitter and striking out one. Four different players had a hit apiece for the Moun- talnettes. KMHS dropped a 9-6 decision to Esist Ruther ford last week. Priscilla Rlckenbacker and Angle Iflckman hit home runs for the Moun talnettes. Third baseman Durham played a sparkling defen sive game for the Moun- talnettes, getting a half dozen putouts and several assists.
