Sarah Frances (Mrs. David) Faunce, chairman of the Kings Mountsdn Appearance Commission decorating committee, said that out-of-town Judges for the decorating contest expect to be busy the evenings of Dec. 20-31 trying to pick two winners In each of the five voting precincts of the city for best decorated house, using good taste, originality, and stressing the Christmas spirit in a “total house effect.” "We will not Just be looking at doors,” said Sarah. Mrs. Steve Rankin of McAdenville and two other out-of-towners will have the Judging chore. First prize of $26 each will be awarded top winner In each of the six wards. Runner-up cash prizes of $15 will be presented In each of the wards by Kings Mountain civic clubs. Other members of the Appearance Commission decorating committee are Lewis Qiiry, Mary (Mrs. Hilliard) Black, Selma (Mrs. Jim) Crawford, Hallle (Mrs. Charles) Blanton, and Frank Mlt- chem. -oOo- PARTV FOR BRIDE-ELECT Miss Kyle Tyner enter tained November 27 at her home on Maner Rd. at a Laaagna party honoring Mias Vicky Bell, whose wedding to Jerry Ruppe took place Saturday evening In Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mias Tyner was maid of honor In ttw wedding. Sumter was served from tables appointed in the Italian mc^f. Guests were bridal at tendants and Included Mrs. Steve Bell, Mrs. Steve Barber, Mrs. Tony Ruppe and Miss Lou Anne Bla lock. The hostess took the occasion to present the bride-to-be her wedding gift, a crock pot. -oOo- TW1N8 ARRIVE Mr. and Mrs. James Scarborough announce the arrival of twin sons, Jason McRae and Jeremy Lance Scarborough, December 8, Charlotte Presbyterian Hospital. Jason weighed seven pounds, one ounce and Jeremy weighed six pounds, 16 ounces. Other members of the family are two sisters, Paige, age eight, and Brook, age three. Qran(tyarents are Rev. and Mrs. H. S. Scruggs of Kings Mountain and James M. Scarborough of Miami, Fla. Mrs. Scarborough Is the former Tlnky Scruggs of Kings Mountain. -oOo- SINOYULE PROGRAM Nine members of Kings Mountain Jaycettes pre sented a Tule program In song for patients of Kings Mountain Convalescent Center last Monday night. Forty residents of the home epjoyed the program In the Cafeteria. Kfr. and Mrs. Jerry Dean Ruppe, who were wed Saturday, are on a wed ding trip to Qatlinburg, Tennessee and afterwards will be at hrnne on Wood- side Dr. Miss Vicky Oarolyn Bell became Mr. Ruppe’s bride InaTp. m. formal wedding In Bethlehem Baptist Church. Rev. Russell Fitts offi ciated, using the double- ring ceremony. Mrs. Jack Lall was organist and Mrs. Jackie Hughes was soloist for the program of tradi tional wedding music. The church chancel was banked by fur trees and enhanced by stately wrought-lron candelabrum set with white cathedral tapers and interspersed with Southern Smllsuc. Floor baskets were filled with white pine and Bur- fOrdl holly and centered the altar. Windows of the sanctusuy were decorated with polnsettlas tuid Juniper. James Thomas Bell escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her In marriage. The bride's wedding gown was an Original design created of Qulana and imported Fhench Alencon lace. The enq>ire bodice was styled with sheer yoke and lace plastron delicately traced with pearl clusters and topped with scalloped lace Edwardian collar. Lace scallops defined ttie rsdsed waistline. Long sleeves had deep cardinal flares banded with lace and finished with deep lace florets which extended around the Chapel train. Her fingertip msuitlUa veil of English tulle was bor dered with Alencon lace Cakecutting Was Held On Friday Night Miss Vicky Bell and Jerry Ruppe cut their wed ding cake Friday night at an after-rehearsal party hasted by the bride-tube’s Couple Honored Saturday Miss Laura Plonk and Gary Ball, who will be married on New Tears Day, were honored last Saturday evening at an Informal supper party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. WllUam Herndon on Edge- mont Drive. Entertaining with Mr. and Mrs. Herndon were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nelsler, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. George Thomasson. Fifty-five friends of the bride-elect and groom were served venison buffet style. The table was overiald with a red and white check cloth and centered with an oriental bowl of fruit and holly. The guests found their places In the play room where they ate and then enjoyed fellowship and games. Ooffee and cake was served afterwards. The Herndon home was beautifully decorated with candles and fresh greenery. parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Bell, In the Chapel of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. CUnton Jolly at the entrance where BufOrdl holly and red bows entertwlned the wrought- lron railing and Christmas red candles and Juniper decorated the windows. The bride's table, high light of decoration, was overlaid with white bridal satin over lace and cen tered by a four-tier wed ding cake decorated on the top tier with fresh red sweetheart roses. Red bows Sind holly caught up the cloth comers. A five- branch silver candelabra arranged with red sweet heart roses, white daisies and gypsophllla was centerpiece for the punch table, done In red and white, where punch was served from a sliver punch bowl. Silver compotes held finger sandwiches, sausage balls, mlnte and nuts. Red candles and greenery also carried out the Christmas theme of the wedding. Assisting In serving were Mrs. Ralph Goforth of Grover, Miss Jan Goforth of Graver, Mrs. Jack cnark of Shelby, Mrs. Dean Pa trick of Belmont, and Mrs. Floyd Armstrong of Belmont. Goodbyes were said to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sherrer. scallops and caught to a lace calot. She carried a cascade of white sweet heart roses, stephsuiotla and gypsc^hllia. Mrs. Steve R. Bell, alster-ln-law of the bride, was matron of honor and Miss Kyle Tyner was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. George Anthony Ruppe, sister-in-law of the bridegroom; Mrs. Dale Russell, hUss Lou Anne Blalock and Mrs. Steve Barber, all of Kings Mountain. All the attendants woca floor-length dresses of CSiristmas red Interlock Jersey fashioned with softly draped empire bodices with bias ring collars and worn with a circular capelet trimmed with marlbou fur dyed to match and enhanced t»y full, flowing skirts. They carried white fur muftB. George Ruppe was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were George Anttiony Riqipe, brother of the bridegroom; Steve Rodney Bell, brother of the bride; Robby Bridges and Marit Baker, all of Kings Mountain. Cindy Jolly OUlls of Shelby presided at the bride’s register In the vestibule of the church where the bridal party formed a receiving line to greet guests after the cere mony. BRIDE AND BRIDEGROOM Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Bell of Kings Mountain are parents of the bride who Is a 1976 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas Ruppe of Kings Mountain, Is a 1976 gradu ate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and is a student at Gaston College. IT’S A BOY Mr. and Mrs. Steve Leigh of the Dixon Com munity announce the arrival of their second son, Jason Russell Leigh, December 2, Cleveland Memorial Hospital, Shelby. The baby weighed seven pounds, six ounces. Gran^arents are Mrs. LllUe Jackson and the late Delbert Jackson and Rev. and Mrs. George Leigh, all of Kings Mountsdn.
