1946 Came, And With It A Masonic Lodge
It was the year of 1046
when a few men decided to
organize a Masonic Lodge
In Kings Mountain.
On June 14, 1046 the
lodge was set up under the
direction of Rev. F. T. Lee,
who received the warrant
and was the Worshipful
Master with Dave Miller,
Senior Warden, Taff Clark,
Junior Warden, Sam
Adams, Secretary, Selvln
Klbler, treasurer. Will
Brown, Tyler, Curtle Bla
lock, Senior Deacon,
Hillard Hunter, Junior
Deacon and Wessley
Williams, Chaplain.
Holding the meeting at
the old Davidson School,
the first and third Wednes
day night of each month,
the Lodge grew from 18 to
83 members by January
1047 and continued to grow
at one point to 87 members.
At the present there are 61
members. By Jime 1047 a
Lodge was needed and In
1048this Lodge was built by
Claud Morgan, contractor,
at that time.
Rev. Lee and sdl the
officers worked hard in
support of the Lodge, he
was one of the most
dedicated Masons In the
county, some say “The
best well read Mason In the
county.” He was Grand
Lecture of the State of N.
C. Although deceased now,
he will always be remem
bered. Bro. Dave Miller,
deceased, also a well read
Mason, served as Grand
Master of the State of N. C.
Hillard Hunter, deceased,
served as secretary and
Senior Warden. He was
always active In Lodge
work. Wessley Williams
Goods Recovered
Police have recovered
the $847 In Christmas
presents stolen from the
home of Diane Hughes, 809
Lackey St., Friday ni^t.
Two Juveniles returned
the goods, according to
KMPD reports, after one
of the parents called with
questions about the break
ing, entering and larceny
report.
In other law enforce
ment activities during the
week, KMPD are con
tinuing Investigation in
several reports of larceny
and malicious damage to
property.

Midland CB radio, tape
player, skill saw and
grinder were stolen from
his automobile, December
19, total value 1400.

hold the name higher.
Since the first set up of
this Lodge there have been
four Worshipful Masters;
Rev. F. T. Lee 1946-1969
Bro Lewis Curry 1960-1961,
Bro Carlee Jenkins 1961.
1976 and Bro. Benjamin
Brown 1977. There have
been five Senior Wardens:
Bro. Dave MlUer, Lewis
Curry, Carlee Jenkins,
Hillard Hunter WlUlam
Childers. There have been
five Junior Wardens Taff
Clark, Ted WUllams,
Carlee Jenkins, and Bssely
McCluney. There have
been six Finance Secre-
tarys: Sam Adams, J. A.
Gibson, H. C. Hunter,
Clarlee Jenkins, Carl
Shank, Benjamin Brown,
and Hazel Brown, last but
not least only one
treasurer and still Is Bro
Selvln Klbler.
Of the officers of this
Lodge some have proven to
be very faithful. Rev. F. T.

of the quality meeting also

pledge to hold Its name

driver. Damages to the
front of the vehicle were
estimated at $160.
Helen Smith of Rt. 1,
Drover, reported that a
shopper took her pocket-
book from a grocery cart
at a local food store
December 17. The purse
contsdned $96.
Mrs. Smith said the theft
occurred when she left her
grocery cart momentarily
to remove an Item from the
ghelf.
