Mayor John H. Jones to rezone his comer lot at King and Juniper Sts. from residential to Nelghborood Business to the zoning and planing board. — Tabled ccxislderatlon of resolution to accept LEAA funds totalling $9,383 for police depart ment records clerk and filing system. —Authorized execution of a contract with W. K. Dickson Co., consulting engineers, for an outfall line from Cansler St. In terceptor to the Inter section of Parker and Gaston Sts. —Adopted an ad dendum with updated Information to the city's land development plan. — And following an hour and 46 minute executive session, announced the commissioners had discussed several grants proposals for the police department with Chief Earl Lloyd and had reviewed seven ap plications for the public works directors job. No action was taken during this closed personnel session. Lyn Cheshire, one of the two qualified CPR Instruc tors in lOngs Mountain, was at Monday’s meeting to award sleeve patches and certificates to members of the Kings Mountain Police and Fire Departments for their completion of the basic CPR course. "I would like to thank the city for Its Interest and support of the CRP program to date,” Cheshire said. "The fire and police departments have completed the basic course and now receive cards from the American National Red Cross which state their CPR qualifica tions. Ihe .patches also designate the wearer Is qualified to assist a CPR case. We hope these pat ches will be displayed prominently on the police and firemen’s uniforms In public.” Cheshire said that he and George (Sandy) Mauney Jr. are the two qualified Instructors In CPR In the city and both have worked long hours teaching the- basic course In CPR. vNdkr we would like to arrange for an Instructor’s course in order to have more Instructors and escalate the CPR programs throughout the com munity.” Mayor Moss said he had been In touch with Industry personnel and that their Interest In the program has been very encouraging. In addition, Cheshire said the local district schools are also planning CPR programs. Wednesday afternoon Mayor Moss announced the members of the dty’a CPR committee, which will coordinate the programs city-wide. WWlam E.
