MARKERNBSTM<£>ANIEL (Jodi Jay Smith) Hickory’s Full Oospel Oiurch was the setting Saturday for a 8 p. m. wedding uniting Miss Debra Bernice Martin and Terry Edward Johnson in marriage. The bride, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Eugene Martin of Hickory, is grand daughter of Mrs. Beulah Nance of Kings Mouritaln. Mrs. Nance anci Miss Pamela Mar'tln of Kings Mountain, cousin of die bride, attended the wedd^. The biTde’s father heard the exchange of vows In die double-ring ceremony. Wilma Orlndstaff was organist for the program of nuptial music and Steve Dunker was pianist Given In marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of Smith-McDaniel Pair Married On Saturday A traditional Lutheran ceremony Sat, July 23, In Saint Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church united Miss Jodi Jay Smith and Mark Emut McDaniel In marriage. The couple pledged vows of the double-ling ceremony before the Reverend Robert Eu gene Allen, minister of the church. Members of the Children’s Choir of the church presented special music in the form of diiee anthems, “Holy, Holy, Holy’’ by Herber, ’’TMs Is My Father’s World” by Babcock and "All Creatures of Our (Sod and King’’ by Francis of Assisi. Mrs. Helen Friday Clonlnger, organist for the program of nuptial music, played "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” by Young, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desliing” by Bach, Beethoven’s “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee,” Malotte’s “The Lord’s Prayer,” “Praise To The Lord” by Walther and "Beautiful Savior’’ by Schroeder as organ pre lude. She played “Trumpet Voluntary” tor the processlcnal of the wedding party and “Psalm XIX” and “The Heavens Declare The Glory of God” by Marcello for the recessional. Altar vases held large arrsuigements of white gladlolM, white Garsa munu, baby’s breath and Ivy. Two seven- branch candelabras were Interspersed with English Ivy and baby’s breath and placed at the entrance to the Chancel. Joseph Rivers Smith escorted his daughter to th^altar and gave her In marriage. The bride’s wedding gown was a formal design of wllk silk organza over peau de sole enhanced by appliques of lace and embroidered with summer beads. Her shoulder-length veil of silk Illusion was held In place with a band of lace applique and orange blossoms. She carried yellow Sweetheart roses, stsphanotls, baby’s breath and Ivy In a free form design. Miss Jonl D Smith attended her sister as maid of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Cynthia Anne Brown, Miss Laura Leslie Carnes and Miss Tara Jreni Timms. ,, Alt the attendants wore formal gowns of pale green eyelet with double ruffle sleeves and enhanced by bows at the waist In front. They wore circlets of Ivy and fresh baby’s breath In their hair and carried bouquets of yellow rosebuds, baby’s MARYCDNLEY ... bride-elect of Charles G. Spearman Miss Conley, Spearman Plan October Wedding white lace over taffeta designed along empire lines with lace elbow sleeves. She wore a petal headpiece of pearls and liidescents and carried a bouquet of daisies and gypsophllla. Mrs. Randy W. Martin of Granite Falls, sister-ln-law of the bride, was matron of honor, and bridesmaids were Pamela Martin of Hickory, sister of the bride, and Frelda Gragg at Newland. All the attendants wore formal gowns of floral chlffcn taffeta In rainbow colors and each carried a long-stemmed breath and Ivy. David Brent Mc Daniel was his brother’s best man. Dean Spearman entertained guests at a cocktail party at the Spearman home at 249 Riverside Drive, Or mond Beach, Florida on Saturday, July 9 at 6:80. In the evening to an nounce the engagement of Mary Margaret Con ley and Charles G. Spearman. Miss Conley, of 939 Buena Vista Drive, Or mond Beach, Is a court stenography student at Daytona Beach Corn- chrysanthemum . Monty Beasley of Oowpens, S. C. was best man for the bridegroom. Ushers were Randy Martin of Granite Falla and Tony Martin of Hickory, brothers of the bride. Ladles of Full Gospel Church entertained after the ceremony at a beautifully - iq>polnted reception In the Star- town Community Building where the rainbow colors of the wedding were featured In decorative details and refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Johnson of Spartanburg, S. C. lu-e parents of the bridegroom who la a graduate of Cowpens High School and Is employed by Browns Machinery Company of Spartanburg. MRS. Mr. Spearman attended the University of Florida In Gainesville and Is now a furniture manufac turers representative In the State of Florida for Braxton Culler, Inc. of High Point, N. C. and 'Trogdon Furniture Co. of Cocoa, Ga. Out-of-town guests were Mr. Spearman’s aunt, Mrs. Sarah H. Jones, and Mrs. Nell J. Klrcus of Kt’'.gs Mountain. They are plarmlng a late October wedding.
