Oold St Intersections In the near future, following action by the com missioners Monday night. { After hearing a list of ' recommendations frccn Commissioner Fred Wright, chairman of the _ city’s traffic flow committee, gathere d during a meeting with Oold St. residents last week, the board ap proved the signals and other Improvements. Wright chaired the meeting held at city hall Tues., Sept. 20, at which more than 30 W. Gold St. residents appeared. The citizens had earlier petitioned the board for action to reduce the speeding on W. Gold St It was suggested that school bus traffic and vehicles used In the school drivers education program be banned from the street, but the board took no action on those Items. The equipment will be used to run lOKV electrical lines Into the Southwood and Nor- thwood Subdivisions to upgrade the power service In those areas. — Tabled a request for rezonlng 102 N. Dining St. from NB to R- 8 following a protest petition presented by Jim Trammell. Trammell said his petition contained the names of “96 percent of the surrounding property owners” and all were against the rezonlng request. The N. DlUlng St. property Is owned by W. James Carpenter, who claims his property was rezoned from R-8 to NB several years ago without his knowledge. Trammell, speaking against the request during Monday night’s public hearing, said to h<mor the request would be to prohibit growth and expansion of business In that area. — In other rez<mlng public hearings, the board approved the requests of Mrs. J. M. Rhea and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Guinn. Mrs. Rhea’s property Is on Hwy. 74 West and Is to be used as a location for Joy’s Craft Shop. The request was to rezone from R-30 to NB. The Guinn property Is to be the site of single and multi-family residen ces. ’The request was to rezone from R-lO to R-6. — Approved read- vertlslng for bids for acoustical celling material, carpet and tile for the Citizens Service Center. — Authorized ad vertisement for bids for sewer line, pump station and force main for city sewer system, which will transfer waste from McGill to Pilot Creek Plant. — Authorized In formal bidding for a base station for the KM Fire Department. — Accepted a petition for sidewalks on W. (Sold St. from Juniper St. to Phifer Rd. — Authorized W. K. Dickson to complete final plans and bid advertise for a 2 million gallon storage tank and lines In the Cleveland Ave. area. PP&K Is Saturday — Approved city codes department coordinating with KM Redevelopment Com mission on utilization plan for building ad jacent to city hall. The building now contains city equipment In storage, but the equipment Is to be removed and the building demolished by the redevelopment commission. — Authorized the mayor to appoint Commissioner Norman King, James Childers and BUI Grissom to a committee to begin planning the use and design of the 11-acre greenway In the Can- swer St. project area. The committee will later be expanded to Include private citizens to help draw a master plan for the greenway. Local youngsters who have not yet signed up for the loccd punt, pass and kick competition have untU Friday to do so.
