The one-bedroom units are scheduled for construction at the comer of Tracy and King Sts., according to the Department of Housing amd Urban Develop ment (HUD). Application for the units was submitted by the firm of An derson, Benton and Holmes, Inc. of Winston-Salem for Section 8 Housing Assistance Payments. The preliminary proposal was submitted to HUD on April 27 by the Winston-Salem firm. HUD has now notified Anderson, Benton and Holmes that final proposal forms denoting willingness to comply with certain guidelines Is expected In Greensboro no later than Nov. 1. According to J. P. Sabella, acting area director for HUD, annual contributions to the Kings Mountain Housing Authority totaling $68,212 has been reserved for this project. KATs Harris Appointed Lt. Gov. Jimmy Green has announced the appointment of Sen. Ollle Harris of Kings Mountain to the Mental Health Ooundl. Harris represents die 26th Senatorial District comprised of Qeveland, Gaston, Lincoln and Rutherford Counties. The purpose of the council Is to consider ways and means to promote mental health In North Carolina and to study needs for new legislation pertaining to the mental health of the cltlsens of this State. In announcing the ap pointment Green praised Harris, a veteran leglMator and funersd director, as a valuable addition to the council. Harris will Join Senator Kenneth C. Royall, Jr. of Durham on the council and will serve a four-year term. Seaman Sisk On Destroyer Navy Quartermaster Seaman Apprentice Fredrick S. Sisk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Sisk Jr. of 806 N. Can- slek St., Kings Moun tain, recently returned from an extended deployment In the Mediterranean Sea. He Is serving as a crewmember aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Dewey, homeported In Charleston, S. C., while deployed, his ship operated as a unit of the U. S. Sixth Fleet. Four Conners Charged Family Feud In Court Hearing for four members of a Kings Mountain family on charges of discharging firearms Into occupied property was continuing Wednesday In Cleveland County District Court as the Mirror-Herald went to press. Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department said that Don Conner, 48, of Waco Rd., faced charges of discharging a firearm Into an oc cupied building, a service station, his wife, Betty, 41, was charged with aiding and abetting In the felony, and Conner’s father, Ralph Conner, and brother, Roger Conner, faced charges of discharging firearms Into occupied vehicle, a car, owned and operated by Donald and Betty Conner. Det. PaulBaibee, Sgt. Glenn Poston, and Deputy Joe King arrested Don Conner at a Kings Mountain magistrate’s office Monday night where the couple was drawing up warrants.
